5 Gemstone Page 13 Sewing Instructions 1. Sew (2) 2 ⅝ Fabric squares, (1) 2 5/8 Fabric 5 square and (1) 2 ⅝ Fabric 1 square together to make (1) Unit A square (Fig. 1). 2. Sew (1) 3 ⅞ Fabric 6 triangle, (1) 3 ⅞ Fabric 2 triangle and (2) 3 ⅞ Fabric triangles to the (4) sides of the Unit A square as shown in Figure 2 to make (1) Unit B square. 3. Sew (1) 5 ⅛ Fabric 7 triangle, (1) 5 ⅛ Fabric 3 triangle and (2) 5 ⅛ Fabric triangles to the (4) sides of the Unit 2 square as shown in Figure 3 to make (1) Unit C square. Unit G make

6 Gemstone Page Sew (1) Unit D and (1) Unit E block together end to end to make (1) Unit H strip (Fig. 14). Repeat to make (12) Unit H strips total. 12. Sew (1) Unit F and (1) Unit G block together end to end to make (1) Unit I strip (Fig. 15). Repeat to make (16) Unit I strips total. Unit H make 12 Unit I make 16 Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling.) 15. Sew (1) Block A, (3) Block H strips, (1) Block B, (1) Block D and (1) Block C together to make (1) Row. Repeat to make (4) rows total. Pay attention to the order of the blocks. 16. Sew (4) Unit I strips and (3) Unit K blocks together, alternating them, to make (1) sashing strip. Repeat to make (4) sashing strips total. Sew (1) 3 Fabric 25 triangle, (1) 3 Fabric 26 triangle, (1) 3 Fabric 2 triangle and (1) 3 Fabric 28 triangle to the (4) sides of (1) 3 ½ Fabric square as shown in Figure 16 to make Unit J block. Repeat to make twelve Unit J blocks total. 14. Sew (1) 3 ⅞ Fabric triangle to each side of (1) Unit J block to make (1) Unit K block (Fig. 17). Repeat to make (12) Unit K blocks total. Unit K make Sew the (4) rows and (4) sashing strips together to make the Center Block. 18. Sew (1) 2 ½ x 72 ½ Fabric strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 2 ½ x 70 ½ Fabric strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top. 19. Layer and quilt as desired. 20. Sew the (8) 2 ½ x WOF Fabric strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. 21. Bind as desired.
