3 FOREWORD Dear Media Representative, The 13 th edition of the Men s EHF European Handball Championship, the EHF EURO 2018, will be hosted by Croatia from 12 to 28 January However, as we know, the road to the final tournament is long. The EHF EURO 2018 Qualification is to be played out over six rounds in the months of November 2016 as well as in May and June teams have made it to this second qualification phase and were placed into seven groups at the draw event in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on 14 April 2016, and they are now preparing and training hard for the decisive matches that will take 15 national teams to Croatia to join the hosts for the final tournament. Playing in a round-robin system (home and away), the teams ranked first and second plus the best third ranked team overall at the end of the qualification in June 2017 will proceed to the final tournament. Croatia as the organisers are already qualified. In anticipation of the media attention surrounding the qualification matches in the hosting European cities, handball stakeholders can expect spectacular sportsmanship, uncountable thrills and passion - not only from the players - but also from the fans in the arenas. For you, the media, the EHF Media and Communications Department has prepared this media guide which not only provides you with an overview of all 28 teams participating, but also gives you an extensive overview of the teams records, such a biggest win or most goals scored in an EHF EURO qualifier, as well as all head-to-head statistics for the seven qualification groups. The European Handball Federation is looking forward to working once again with our longstanding media partner: INFRONT Sports & Media where EHF EURO cooperation dates back to the men s inaugural event in 1994 in Portugal. With the intention of reaching an ever wider audience, especially on TV, the EHF will continue to use the harmonised advertising set-up in all hosting arenas designed to present the optimal handball experience. On behalf of the European Handball Federation, I take this opportunity to wish the teams participating in the EHF EURO 2018 Qualification, in the spirit of Fair Play, the best of luck and I hope to welcome you in Croatia in January Jean Brihault EHF President 3
