1 WEST BROWARD BOBCATS BASEBALL TEAM CONTRACT: RULES AND EXPECTATIONS Spring 2017 What's ur missin: T represent West Brward High Schl and ur baseball prgram with pride and dignity in the same way that a rle mdel and leader wuld d. ACADEMICS AND ATTENDANCE: As a student athlete at West Brward High Schl yu will be a student first and athlete secnd. Each student athlete's classrm perfrmance will be bserved clsely. Yu are a Student-Athlete, academics are always a pririty, and befre making a cmmitment t: Get t class n time. Yu will attend ALL classes REGULARLY and be ON TIME. Attending schl the day f a game is MANDATORY. Failure t attend will result in the player nt playing in that day's game and attending schl the Friday befre and weekend games is als MANDATORY. Student athletes wh d nt maintain a team impsed 2.0 GPA will be put n team prbatin and will have ne week t get the grades up and prvide the caching staff sme frm f dcumentatin shwing that the lw grades have indeed imprved. Failure t d s will result in a suspensin frm the team until the grades imprve. Academics will always cme first! CHARACTER: Nt nly as student athletes but as yung men in general, yu will be judged nw and yur entire life based n yur character, and hw yu react nt nly t the gd things, but when things d nt g yur way. We must never frget that we all individually represent smething far bigger than urselves! Respect umpires. Cmpsure is key; remember hw many peple are bserving yur actins and they d s when yu are generally struggling.it s easy t behave well when times are gd, what will yu d when times are nt gd. Take full respnsibility fr yur actins; dn t lk t pint fingers at smebdy else. 1

2 APPEARANCE: Our prgram represents the cmmunity and the schl. Hw yu lk is a direct reflectin f the prgram. Players will dress prperly arund campus and at baseball related functins. Remember, yu represent yur family, the baseball prgram and WBHS. Players will adhere t a dress cde that requires them t wear a team issued pl shirt and khaki pants/slacks fr all game days n matter if it s hme r away. If yu chse t have facial hair, it must be clean and well-grmed. NO earrings will be wrn n the field at any time. CELL PHONE USAGE AND SOCIAL MEDIA: Cell phnes are nt allwed t be ut r used at all during practice. Under an extreme situatin and the phne is needed, speak with a cach a get permissin. Scial media is very risky. Remember that what yu d n yur scial media accunts and what yu are seen ding and invlved in can have serius implicatins. Always put the team first and think abut the cnsequences f misusing scial media utlets. Misuse f scial media utlets and cell phnes will result in a player suspensin subject t the caches decisin at that time. INJURIES & SICKNESS: All injuries and sickness will be reprted immediately t the caches and trainers, s that treatment can be initiated as prmptly as pssible. Players will infrm a Cach that they will be ging t see the trainer befre the actually ging. Team Trainers will prescribe the limitatins n practice and game perfrmance and we have t adhere and respect their decisins. PRACTICE: Reprt t practice n time. Never leave practice until yu are excused. Missing practice withut permissin frm the cach will have a direct effect n yur playing time. Missing a practice the day befre a game is unexcused and will result in that player nt playing in that game. N Headphnes r Phnes are allwed at practice and / r game unless apprved by a cach. Players that miss r arrive late t practice because they are making up missed schl wrk r test, must prvide the caches a written nte frm the teacher yu were wrking with. If yu are unable t prvide dcumentatin, yu re cnsidered late and there will be repercussins. Players must be present at all practices, wrk days, team meetings, cntests, special ccasins and events. If fr any reasn yu are unable t d s, yu need t relay this t the caching staff and we can handle every scenari case by case. Wear baseball unifrms t practice, which cnsists f pants, shirt, and a hat. Yu will have a schedule nce yu get ur practice apparel. If yu cme t practice nt prepared and nt in unifrm, yu ll be sent hme. BOBCATS BASEBALL RULES & EXPECTATIONS

3 GAME DAY: N spectatrs are allwed in the dugut during a game. This includes parents, family members, friends, girlfriends, etc. (nr are any nn-player allwed t visit with yu during a game) Players are allwed t leave the dugut during a game nly t get a ful ball, g t the bathrm, warm up/stretch/thrw, r in a medical r weather related emergency. Yu re expected t perfrm the necessary functin and return t the dugut withut incident. Any ther request t leave the dugut shuld be discussed with and apprved by a member f the caching staff. Yu shuld have all yur drinks and yur gear prir t warm ups. N drinks will be allwed t be given t players withut a cach's permissin nce the game has started. Players will be required t help with field duties befre and after games. If any player leaves befre being excused and the field has nt been cmpletely cleaned, will be suspended frm the next game. UNIFORMS: Unifrms shuld be kept clean, in gd cnditin, and always tucked in; frm warm up's until the game is cmpleted, unifrms shuld be wrn. Hats shuld be wrn crrectly (straightfrward). Rally caps are acceptable when apprpriate. Bring a jacket t practice and games. Yur arm is very imprtant. Players are respnsible fr all equipment and unifrms issued t them. Stlen r damaged equipment r unifrms must be paid by the athlete r his Parent r an bligatin will be filed with the schl. When we arrive at ur ppnent's field yu will be dressed (t play) with the exceptin f yur cleats. N Cleats n the bus. Turfs r Sneakers ONLY. N flip flps arund the field during pre game and game itself. Players will wear BP tps r jacket during all pre-game activities and will change int their Game Day unifrm tp prir t the start f the game. EQUIPMENT: Thrwing and/r abuse f equipment is prhibited. In the event that-equipment is thrwn/abused and damaged, the player will be expected t reimburse the schl fr repair r replacement f the equipment. Thrwing f equipment may result in a player being remved frm the game. This is at the Cach's discretin. Yu are respnsible fr yur wn equipment and any issued t yu. All players will be required t help carry equipment at practices and at games. All Equipment will be stred in its prper area. Assignments and Duties will be annunced befre each seasn. 4 BATTING CAGE RULES: Keep the cage area clean. N Eating and when drinking thrwaway empty bttles and cans. Always request permissin frm a cach t hit n yur wn and yu can nly hit when a cach is at Baseball facility. All Bats and Baseballs must be put away when dne. N mre than 2 players at a time in the cages. OUTSIDE TEAMS OR LESSONS: I have NO prblem with players having private lessns during the spring high schl seasn, just as lng as it des nt interfere with ur schedule f games and practices, and what we are trying t d and that yu let the caching staff knw. Lessns shuld be dne n Sunday's if pssible unless prir ntificatin is given. Players will be allwed t play with utside teams during the fall and summer seasns nly and when again it des nt interfere with the Bbcats Baseball prgram event, practice r game. Please ntify the caching staff as t yur plans in advance, s that yu will have prper permissin. Players are nt allwed t play fr utside teams during the spring seasn (January- May). Any player fund t be playing n utside team during the spring seasn will be dismissed frm team. USE OF TOBACCO, ALCOHOL OR DRUGS: Smking, the use f chewing tbacc and smkeless tbacc, drinking f alchlic beverages, and the illegal use f drugs r perfrmance enhancing drugs by any athlete is prhibited. Disciplinary actin and r suspensin frm the team and/r schl will be cnsidered. HAZING AND INITIATIONS: An athlete wh is deemed t have participated in acts f hazing will be dismissed frm the team and referred t the administratin fr further discipline. Hazing is defined as cmmitting acts f initiatin cnsidered demeaning t the persn f a teammate. These acts include frced haircuts, invluntary servitude and physical acts t the persn. SUSPENSION FROM TEAM: Suspensins will be made by the Cach, Athletic Directr r Schl Administratr. Causes fr suspensins may include but nt limited t the fllwing: Grades are checked at randm, dn t maintain a 2.0, yu have ne week t prvide dcumentatin that the grades have imprved. If yu are unable t d s, yu will be suspended until it is abve the at r abve the 2.0 mark. Persnal miscnduct. Student athletes are ineligible fr practice r cntest during perids f suspensins. Unexcused absences frm meetings r practices. Unsprtsmanlike cnduct. Failure t adhere t 'any rules' set frth by the caching staff BOBCATS BASEBALL RULES & EXPECTATIONS

5 TRANSPORTATION & TRAVELING: When traveling t and frm cntests, the team will meet at a designated lcatin. Please make sure t have what is needed when getting n the bus. Entire team must return n the bus back t schl. All team members will travel t and frm all cntests by means f transprtatin prvided r rganized by the Athletic Directr's Office. On ccasin, parents will be respnsible fr the transprtatin f their athletes. There will be n prfanity r abuse f any kind while riding a schl bus traveling t and frm games. Yu will be allwed t have music as lng as yu have headphnes - nly n the bus. PARENTS: Practices are OPEN. When attending please limit yur cmments t yurself and please stay in the 1st base stands. N Parents will be permitted n the field r have cmmunicatins with player unless permissin is given by the caching staff befrehand. If this is abused, then we will have n chice but t clse practices. Additinally, please d nt ask t speak t the Cach after the game. The staff puts in lng hurs and wuld like t get hme t their families, s these matters can be discussed the fllwing day Please shw gd sprtsmanship and respect t all ur visitrs and ppsing fans hme r away at all times. Players, Student-Athletes and Caches that are fined by the BCAA and/ r FHSAA must pay the fine themselves. It will nt be paid fr by the Bbcats Baseball Bster Club r the West Brward High Schl. 6 SUMMARY: We need leadership, respect fr the authrity f the caching staff and a disciplined effrt by each team member in rder t have a unified cmmitment t achieving ur gals. We need t understand the pprtunity we have and the fllwing three things will always put things int perspective when we think abut hw we shuld g abut ding what we d n the ballfield and in representing the schl: 1.
