Los Angeles fell to 1-3 in their six-game homestand against Arizona (1-1) and Cincinnati (0-2) and tonight looks to avoid losing its first series against the Redlegs since September 6-8, Following the weekend series against the Reds and a travel day on Monday, the Boys in Blue will begin a six-game road trip with a couple of three-game series with the Marlins (Tuesday-Thursday) and the Nationals (Friday-Sunday). Despite losing two straight games to the Reds, the Dodgers have won 17 of 22 games against the Redlegs since the start of the 2015 campaign. Los Angeles has also gone 9-2 in its last 11 games at Dodger Stadium against the Reds since August 14, The Boys in Blue swept the season series in 2017, 6-0, which was the first time the club had accomplished such a feat since 2006, when the club also took all six-games. The last time the Dodgers started the season going or worse in its first 38 games of the year was in 2013, when the club also went After the slow start, the 2013 Dodgers won the National League West division and reached the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. BRINGING THE BAND BACK: Prior to tonight s contest against the Reds, the Dodgers will host the Alumni Game, which is a part of the Alumni Weekend presented by Security Benefit as the club will honor the 30 th anniversary of the 1988 World Series champions. 16 members of the 88 club are expected to participate in the festivities and the Alumni Game. Alumni Batting Practice will start at 3:10 p.m. (when gates open) and the alumni introductions will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the game scheduled to start at 4:15 p.m. Fans will also have autograph and photo opportunities with Alumni at Dodger Stadium entrances prior to tomorrow s game. CHICKEN STRIP: Dodger right-hander Ross Stripling will make his third start of the season and his 19 th of his career tonight against the Reds. Stripling started last Sunday against the Padres in Monterrey, Mexico, allowing just four hits and striking out five batters over 4.0 scoreless innings. In his career as a starter, the 28-year-old has gone 3-7 with a 4.26 ERA (42 ER/88.2 IP) with a.261 opponents average against and 67 strikeouts. Stripling has appeared in 11 games this year out of the bullpen, allowing just one run in 15.1 innings (0.59 ERA), while striking out 17 and limiting the opposition to a.211 average. His ERA as a reliever ranks fourth best in the Majors this season. Stripling has faced the Reds just once in his career, allowing three runs on five hits over 2.0 inning of relief on June 11, 2017 at Dodger Stadium. V IS FOR VENDITTE: Prior to tonight s contest, the Dodger selected the contract of ambidextrous pitcher Pat Venditte (#43) from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 32-year-old has made 15 relief appearances with the OKC Dodger this season, going 2-0 with a 1.53 ERA (3 ER/17.2 IP) and limiting the opposition to.167 average. He has also struck out 19 batters against six walks in 17.2 innings and posted a 0.91 WHIP. The switch-pitcher was a non-roster invitee in this year s camp with the Dodgers and appeared in 10 Cactus League games, allowing just two runs over 11.1 innings of relief (1.59 ERA) and striking out 14 against just three walks, while holding hitters to a.167 average. The switchpitcher has appeared in 41 career big league games over two seasons with the Athletics (2015), Blue Jays (2016) and Mariners (2016), going 2-2 with a 4.97 ERA and striking out 42 batters against 23 walks in 50.2 innings. He has held big league hitters to a.241 career average, including limiting left-handed batters to a.185 mark. To create room on the active roster the Dodgers optioned righthanded pitcher Brock Stewart to Triple-A OKC. To create room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred shortstop Corey Seager to the 60-day disabled list (right UCL surgery). Forsythe, who was placed on 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation, is set to appear in his second rehab game tonight and make the start as the designated hitter with the Quakes. Joining Forsythe in Rancho Cucamonga tonight will be Dodger All-Star third baseman Justin Turner, who is scheduled to appear in his first rehab game. Turner, who faced a couple minor league pitchers during the week in a simulated game, is scheduled to play seven innings at third base and will get three or four at-bats tonight. Turner was placed on the disabled list on March 26 with a left wrist fracture after being hit by a pitch during a Spring Training game on March 19. PUNCH EM OUT: The Dodgers 379 strikeouts and 3.03 strikeout-towalk ratio as a pitching staff ranks second in the National League, trailing only the Nationals 398 punchouts and 3.40 strikeout-to-walk ratio. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIB: The Dodgers would like to wish lefthanded reliever Adam Liberatore a very happy 31 st birthday today. Liberatore has appeared in 11 games with the Dodgers this season, going 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA (2 ER/7.2 IP) and striking out eight, while holding hitters to a.185 average. The southpaw is in his fourth season with Los Angeles, going 5-5 with a 3.56 ERA and holding the opposition to a.221 average in 112 career games. IN A PINCH: The Dodger bench has proven to be very resourceful for Dodger manager Dave Roberts as the club currently leads the Majors with 23 hits by a pinch-hitter and ranks among the league leaders in pinch-hit average (.295, 6 th ), RBI (12, T-1 st ), OBP (.402, 6 th ) and OPS (.800, 5 th ). Chase Utley has been very reliable when being called upon off the bench, as he has recorded seven hits as pinch-hitter this season, which is tied for the most in the big leagues with the Cubs Tommy La Stella.
