Dickey s knuckleball, the veteran right-hander went 8.0 innings and only allowed a run In game 2, starter Mark Leiter Jr. (L, 2-4), once again, picked up the Phillies bullpen and went 6.2 innings He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts Julio Teheran started opposite Leiter Jr. and limited the Phils to only a run over 6.2 innings The Braves pounded out 28 combined hits on the day. PHILLIES CLAIM NICASIO: Earlier today, the Phillies claimed right-hander Juan Nicasio from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Vice President & General Manager Matt Klentak announced Nicasio, who turns 31 today, appeared in 65 games for the Pirates this season and posted a 2.85 ERA and 1.12 WHIP, averaged 9.0 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched and held opponents to a.222 average and.617 OPS He has a 0.75 ERA in 13 appearances against the National League East this season, 12 of which have been scoreless Since the beginning of the 2016 season, Nicasio has struck out 27.8% of the batters he has faced in 105 relief appearances A veteran of seven major league seasons, Nicasio has gone with a 4.61 ERA in 258 games (82 starts) for the Colorado Rockies ( ), Los Angeles Dodgers (2015) and Pirates ( ) To make room for Nicasio on the 40-man roster, 1B/OF Brock Stassi was designated for assignment. BACK ON THE ROAD: After completing a 10-game homestand yesterday that was bookended by two doubleheaders (8/22 vs MIA & 8/30 vs ATL), the Phillies head out on the road for an 11-game road trip that will take them to Miami (4 G), New York (3 G) and Washington (4 G) The 11-game road trip is a bit unprecedented as the Phillies haven t had a road trip of that length since June of 2006, when they visited the Dodgers (4 G), Diamondbacks (3 G) and Nationals (4 G) Philadelphia has 30 games left in the 2017 season, 14 on the road and 16 at Citizens Bank Park.
