Both games featured 8th inning rallies that gave the Travs their first-and-only leads of the game. Previously they were 3-39 when trailing at the end of 7 innings. Bianucci Blasting Since joining the Arkansas Travelers on June 20, Mike Bianucci is tied for 2nd in the Texas League and 3rd in AA ball with 8 home runs. Bianucci is also tied for the Texas League lead with 24 RBI and is 3rd in slugging at.622. Yarbashing At his current pace, Travs second baseman Alex Yarbrough has a shot to eclipse the franchise record for doubles in a season since the team joined the Texas League in Matt Brown hit 41 doubles in 2006 to set the record, while Luis Jimenez fell one short with 40 doubles during the 2011 season. Yarbrough also has a shot to become just the third Traveler to lead the Texas League in base hits joining Erick Aybar (162 hits in 2005) and Ray Lankford (158 hits in 1989). Six Flags Baseball The second half of the season has been quite the roller coaster ride for the Arkansas Travelers. The Travs came to Springdale with backto-back wins after a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Tulsa on Friday. Those 2 losses ended their longest winning streak of the season at 6 games, which was preceded by an 8-game losing streak and that followed a 5-game winning streak. Got Gott Relief pitcher Trevor Gott joined the Travs bullpen Saturday after being included in the 6-player trade with the San Diego Padres on Friday. The Angels acquired Gott along with closer Huston Street for a package of prospects including former Travs pitcher R.J. Alvarez and 2nd baseman Taylor Lindsey. Gott made his Travs debut last Sunday with a scoreless inning of work. Locking It Down The Arkansas Travelers bullpen has been a main strength of the club all year, but during the second half the relief corps has been especially good with a 3.01 ERA (104.2 ip/35 er) and 128 K s against 43 walks. In Saturday s 5-2 win the Travs bullpen combo of Buddy Boshers, Danny Reynolds and Cam Bedrosian struck out 10 batters in 4 innings. During the 6- game winning streak that ended Friday the pen allowed 1 run in 18 innings (0.50 ERA) and 15 hits while striking out 22. Troutastic In Tuesday s Major League All-Star Game at Target Field in Minneapolis, Angels outfielder Mike Trout became the second former Travs player to win the All-Star Game MVP Award joining J.D. Drew (2008). Trout was 2- for-3 with a triple, double and 2 RBI including the game winning run knocked in. Trout starred in centerfield for the 2011 Travs. Relief pitcher Francisco Rodriguez (2002) and shortstop Erick Aybar (2005) were also named to All- Star Game. Homer Watch The Travs have a league-low 52 home runs, with 20 hit against Springfield representing 38 percent of the team s home run total. Pitchers have allowed the 2nd-fewest home runs this year (51). Sunday broke a streak of 7 games without allowing a home run, while just 6 long balls have been hit against the Travs this month in 18 games. Roadwork The Travelers have found hitting and scoring on the road much easier than at Dickey-Stephens Park. In 51 road games they re averaging 4.8 runs and hold a.273 team batting average,.391 OBP and 35 home runs. In 50 home games they re averaging just 2.8 runs a game with a.211 batting average, 17 home runs and.295 OBP. They ve also been shutout 11 times at home. June s Awards The Travelers named Brian Hernandez as the Travs batter and fielder of the month of June. He tied for the team lead with a.311 batting average and 13 RBI while committing just 2 errors in the field.
