Nolan Fontana opened the decisive frame with a double to the gap in right off Jerry Sullivan. Andrew Aplin followed with a line drive into center, scoring Fontana from second base. The first four out of San Antonio s bullpen, Adys Portillo, Luis De La Cruz and Frank Garces, did not allow a hit over six innings, striking out 11 against 1 walk. The Hooks fanned a season-high 15 times on the night. Ruben Sosa, making his Hooks debut, sent a lead-off double down the left-field line in the first. Following a walk to Fontana, Aplin jumped on a 1-0 pitch from James Needy, serving it into right for an RBI single. Corpus Christi manufactured a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Carlos Perdomo laid down a bunt base hit, stole second and Rene Garcia sacrificed him to third base. Jio Mier plated the run with a sac fly to center field. Kyle Smith was charged with two runs (one earned) on four hits in five innings. Smith retired nine in a row, leading up to Austin Hedges solo home run in the fifth. Michael Dimock, Travis Ballew, Andrew Robinson and Tyson Perez, slammed the door from there.
