Following this three-game series, the Sox continue this ninegame trip with three games each at Minnesota (4/14-16) and New York-AL (4/17-19). The Sox went 2-3 on their season-opening homestand vs. Detroit (1-1; one rainout) and Minnesota (1-2), which ended on Sunday with a 4-1 loss to the Twins. The White Sox have four scheduled off days in April (one in 2016) and play 25 of their fi rst 28 games within the division, including the fi rst 12. TODAY'S STORYLINES The White Sox are at Progressive Field since White Sox starters owns a 2.66 ERA (7 ER/23.2 IP) over the last four games. SUNDAY'S RECAP Ervin Santana and four relievers combined on a fi ve-hitter as Minnesota won the deciding game of the series, 4-1. José Quintana fell to 0-2 on the season, allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts over 6.1 IP Nate Jones gave up a two-run homer to Miguel Sano in the eighth inning. GARCÍA NAMED IL POW Class AAA Charlotte OF Willy García was named International Player of the Week for 4/6-9 after hitting.533 (8-15) with two home runs, four RBI and nine runs scored over four games. García, who was claimed off waivers from Pittsburgh on 1/6/17, also drew six walks for a.667 on-base percentage. ELSEWHERE ON THE FARM Class AAA Charlotte 2B Yoan Moncada, the No. 2 prospect in baseball according to MLB.com and Baseball America, went 1-3 with a home run (No. 2), two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base yesterday at Durham. C Zack Collins, the No. 5 prospect in the Sox system and No. 56 in baseball according to Baseball America, went 2-5 yesterday for Class A Winston-Salem to raise his average to.375 (6-16). ON THIS DATE 1917 One hundred years ago today, the White Sox opened their season with a 7-2 victory at the St. Louis Browns. Buck Weaver drove in three runs, and C Ray Schalk hit a two-run homer Jim Scott earned the victory with 6.0 IP in relief, and Dave Danforth retired all six batters for the save The Sox went on to win 99 games and capture the second world championship in franchise history with a six-game victory over the New York Giants. RODON UPDATE LHP Carlos Rodon, who is on the 10-day disabled list with bursitis in his left biceps, will remain in Arizona on this trip to continue his throwing program. Rodon, 24, will be re-evaluated during the next homestand he went 9-10 with a 4.04 ERA (74 ER/165.0 IP) and 168 strikeouts over 28 starts in AT THE HELM Rick Renteria was named the 40th manager in White Sox history on 10/3/16, replacing Robin Ventura. Included on the Knights roster are INF Yoan Moncada, the No. 2 prospect according to MLB.com, RHP Lucas Giolito (No. 11), RHP Reynaldo López (No. 46) and RHP Carson Fulmer (No. 71). Moncada was named Baseball America's Minor League Player of the Year in SOTO'S RARE FEAT Geovany Soto on Thursday vs. Detroit became the seventh player in major-league history to hit two home runs in a game for both the White Sox and Cubs (Elias). OUT GOES FRAZIER Todd Frazier set career highs with 40 home runs, 98 RBI, 89 runs scored and 64 walks last season, his first with the White Sox Frazier joined Jim Thome (42 in 2006) as the only players to hit 40-plus homers in his fi rst season with the Sox. His 40 home runs were the most in White Sox history by a third baseman, and his 15 stolen bases were the most by a Sox third baseman since Orta in 1976 (24).
