Following this three-game set vs. the Tigers and Thursday's off day, Chicago will continue the homestand with a weekend series vs. Kansas City and four games vs. Cleveland from 9/ The Sox went 2-5 on their last trip at Detroit (0-3) and Minnesota (2-2) and 6-3 on their last homestand vs. Oakland (2-1), Philadelphia (1-1) and Seattle (3-1). Since owning the second-best record in the majors at on 5/9, the White Sox have gone TONIGHT'S STORYLINES The White Sox are 6-3 over their last nine games at U.S. Cellular Field, outscoring the opposition by a margin. Chicago has lost four consecutive games, and six of seven, vs. Detroit three of the seven games were one-run affairs. Sox starters are 1-2 with an ERA (24 ER/19.1 IP) and have allowed nine home runs over the last four games. Miguel Gonzalez is 1-3 with a 2.70 ERA (14 ER/46.2 IP) and seven quality starts over his last eight outings he has allowed two earned runs or less fi ve times during that span. Tim Anderson is hitting.361 (22-61) with four doubles, two triples, five RBI and seven multihit efforts over his last 14 games. ROSTER MOVES Chicago today recalled OF Jason Coats and INF Leury Garcia from Class AAA Charlotte, purchased the contract of RHP Blake Smith from Charlotte, and returned RHP Miguel Gonzalez from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the disabled list. Gonzalez has not pitched since 8/11 (strained right groin). Coats is hitting.189 (7-37) with two doubles, one home run and three RBI in 18 games with the White Sox in 2016 Garcia, hit.313 (97-310) with nine doubles, four triples, six home runs, 35 RBI and 18 stolen bases over 84 games with the Knights. Smith made 39 relief appearances with Charlotte, going 3-1 with a 3.53 ERA (28 ER/71.1 IP), one save and 75 strikeouts. YESTERDAY'S RECAP Justin Upton hit a game-winning, three-run home run in the 11th inning off Chris Beck to lead Detroit to a 5-3 win. Avisail Garcia cut the defi cit to 5-3 with a RBI single in the 11th but Tyler Saladino struck out looking to end the game. Chris Sale received a no decision despite allowing just two runs on six hits and two homers (both to Miguel Cabrera) over 8.0 IP he worked at least 8.0 IP for the fourth straight start. Alex Avila connected on a game-tying homer in the seventh off Justin Verlander, and Garcia went 3-5 with a double and RBI. The Sox went 2-7 with RISP and left nine runners on base. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES Tonight marks the final telecast for CSN's Mike Leary, who has produced 2,000-plus games for Chicago's regional TV outlets. Leary, a three-time Emmy-award winning producer and director for White Sox and Blackhawks broadcasts, will be leaving CSN and relocating from the Chicago area with his family. The White Sox thank Mike for all of his hard work over 17 years in Chicago and wish him and his family well in the future. #VOTEABREU Jose Abreu has been selected as the White Sox nominee for the 2016 Roberto Clemente Award. The Award is the annual recognition of a player from each MLB club who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the fi eld. Starting tomorrow, fans can vote for Abreu using the hashtag "#VoteAbreu" on Facebook and Twitter the Sox only previous winner of the Clemente Award was Paul Konerko in FOLLOW THE LEADER Jose Abreu is hitting.395 (15-38) with four home runs, 13 RBI and a OPS over his last eight games he recorded 12 RBI from 9/1-4 at Minnesota, joining Todd Frazier (5/7-10) as the only Sox this season to record 12 RBI in a four-game span. Abreu has reached base safely in 31 of his last 32 games since 8/2, including a career-high 29 straight from 8/2-9/2 has hit safely in 28 games and owns 14 multihit efforts during that span. OUT GOES FRAZIER Todd Frazier is tied for fourth in the American League with 35 home runs, setting a single-season club record for third baseman. He is on pace to hit a career-high 41 homers, which would be the most by a White Sox since Adam Dunn hit 41 in Frazier is looking to join Bill Melton (1971) and Dick Allen (1972, '74) as the only Sox players to lead the AL in home runs. LEADING MAN Adam Eaton has matched his leadoff homer total from Eaton's four leadoff shots this season are tied for the fifth-most in club history in a single season, and his eight career are tied with Alejandro De Aza for third place in White Sox history. Ray Durham (20) and Tim Raines (9) own the top two spots. EATON WITH THE ASSIST Adam Eaton is attempting to become the fi rst White Sox outfi elder to win a Gold Glove since Ken Berry in 1970, and fi rst position player since Robin Ventura in Eaton leads MLB with 18 OF assists and is tied for the lead with 24 defensive runs saved the 18 assists are the most by a Sox outfi elder since 1955 (Minnie Minoso and Jim Rivera, 19). Chris Sale needs seven strikeouts to become the fi rst pitcher in White Sox history to record 200-plus in four straight seasons. FINISH LINE FAST APPROACHING The White Sox have 25 games remaining this season, including 16 at U.S. Cellular Field and nine on the road. The schedule includes 19 games vs. the American League Central, four vs. Tampa Bay and two vs. Philadelphia the Sox will play seven games each vs. Cleveland and Kansas City.
