TONIGHT'S GAME: The Giants' playoff hopes remain alive heading into this final week of the regular season...the Giants trail the NL West leading Dodgers by 6.0 games with seven left to play...however, a Giants loss at any point in this four-game series against the Dodgers would eliminate the defending World Series champions from postseason contention. INSIDE THE SERIES: San Francisco has lost their last four meetings with the Dodgers, however they've won all six here at AT&T Park, outscoring LA by a 22-6 margin...the Giants shut out the Dodgers in all three games during their last trip here May SF has held the Dodgers scoreless in their last 34.0 innings on the Shores of McCovey Cove entering tonight. ONE WIN FOR WINNING RECORD: The Giants won their 81st game yesterday and can clinch a winning record with just one more victory. PARKER PRODUCING HITS: OF Jarrett Parker went 2-for-3 yesterday at Oakland to raise his batting average to.400 (12-for-30) in 15 games in the big leagues...according to Elias, Parker is the first player to debut for the Giants and produce a batting average of.400 or higher with at least 12 hits through his first 15 games since Bill Mueller in 1996 (.439, 18-for-41). PEAVY ON THE HILL: RHP Jake Peavy (7-6, 3.83) looks to help the Giants stave off elimination...he's posted a 3-0 record with a 2.19 ERA (6er, 24.2ip) over his last four starts... his 14 career wins over the Dodgers are his second most against any club, but he's 0-1 with a 4.34 ERA (9er, 18.2ip) in three starts against them since joining the Giants last season. TOUGH AGAINST SF: RHP Zack Greinke has won his last seven starts against the Giants while posting a 1.90 ERA (10er, 47.1ip)...the NL Cy Young candidate has won his last two outings at AT&T Park with a combined 13.0 scoreless innings...greinke has started nine career games against the Giants and his teams are 9-0 in those games...he'll be pitching for the first time since Sept. 18 as his last start was skipped in the rotation because of a tight calf. ROOKIE RUMBLINGS: In the three game series against the A's, Giants rookies combined to hit.419 (26-for-62) with 16 runs scored, seven extra base hits (two doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI). GOLD GLOVE FOR BLACH: Giants minor league prospect Ty Blach won a Gold Glove award from Rawlings today...the right-hander posted a perfect fielding percentage on 53 chances over innings pitched in his 27 starts for triple-a Sacramento. Was reinstated off the 15-day DL on July 3 and has started 15 games since, going 7-3 with a 3.36 ERA (34er, 91.0ip). Received a no-decision in his last outing in the Giants' 5-4 loss to the Padres...tossed 6.0-scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Has won his last four decisions and the Giants have gone 9-4 in his last 13 outings. Has posted a 1.42 ERA (3er, 19.0ip) in his last three starts.
