1 2018 Linton Freedom Fest Tournament Rules: General Rules (all age divisions): 1. Time limit will be in effect for all games, except championship games. No new inning will begin after the time limit has expired. Home team and umpire will note the start time /60 field dimensions. Double base at 1 st base. 3. Bats: USA Baseball marking. 2-5/8 maximum barrel diameter. No BBCOR bats. 4. Catchers must wear a cup. 5. No metal cleats. 6. No head first slides, unless going back to a base. 7. Home team keeps official book. Compare books before final inning, and between innings if needed. 8. Any player that arrives past their batting order must be put at the end of the line-up. 9. Must have at least 9 players. If only 8 players, an out must be taken at the 9th spot in the batting order. Less than 8 players, the team will forfeit the game. 10. Each participant on a team roster must play at least three (3) consecutive outs per game, including having an at-bat. Exceptions will be made due to sickness or injury to a player. Violation of this rule will result in forfeiture of the game. 11. Clean out the dugout after each game. 12. During pool play games, the each team will receive one (1) home and one (1) away game. During bracket games, the home team will be determined by the team with the better seeding. 13. Pool play games can end in a tie. Forfeited games will be scored After pool play, tiebreakers for seeding of bracket play will be determined by: a. Overall Record b. Head-to-Head c. Runs against d. Runs scored e. Coin flip 15. There will be no protested games. Judgment calls by umpires may not be protested. 16. Coaches are responsible for the behavior of their team and fans. Offensive behavior, foul language, poor sportsmanship and arguing will be not be tolerated. Violation of this rule can result in removal from the ballpark. Warning need not be given.
2 6u Rules: 1. 4 inning games. 1 hour time limit. 2. Bats marked with the USABat T-Ball Stamp are acceptable. 3. Offensive coaches allowed at 1 st and 3 rd base, and pitching. 2 defensive coaches allowed in the outfield behind the outfielders, and 1 behind home plate. 4. Outfield can have 4 players. 5. Batters are allowed 5 pitches or 3 strikes. A foul ball on the final pitch will allow the at-bat to continue. 6. Bat entire roster. An inning will end after 3 outs, or when team scores maximum of five (5) runs per inning, excluding the 4 th inning. Unlimited runs in 4 th inning, or subsequent innings. 7. Subs must play at least 3 consecutive outs in a game, and take at least 1 at-bat. 8. Time out is called by an umpire when coach pitching has the ball at pitching location. Runners past ½ marks will advance. An honest attempt to throw to the pitcher is all that is required. Coaches shall stay in the location they pitch from, ready to catch the ball from fielders. Umpire may also call time out if lead runner is stopped, or circle player has secured the ball in the circle. 9. One (1) base maximum on an overthrow on attempted throws to any base. This is not an automatic extra base awarded. Runner(s) can still be out if a play is made. a. Example: On an overthrow to 1 st, batter can advance to 2 nd, runner at 1 st can advance to 3 rd, runners at 2 nd and 3 rd can score. Runners cannot advance again on overthrow back to circle. b. If a play is made on the runner proceeding to 2 nd, and another overthrow occurs, runners can advance one additional base. c. On a ball hit to the outfield and thrown back in, an overthrow to circle is still live ball, if no play/overthrow has occurred at a base. Still must stop lead runner, or get the ball in the circle. 10. Pitching distance is 25ft. Pitching coach must start his throw from behind the pitching line. 11. If coach pitching is hit by a batted ball, the ball is dead. Batter takes first base. Runners advance at any base. 12. Player at pitcher s position must be behind coach pitching, and start with at least one foot in the circle. 13. Level 5 baseballs will be used for play. (Ex. Rawlings ROTB5) 14. A catcher will be used. After a ball is caught, the catcher gives the ball back to the coach behind the plate to throw it back to the coach pitcher. A fly ball caught is an out. 15. No steals. Runners may not leave a base until the ball is hit. 16. No bunting allowed. If a batter intentionally bunts, the batter will receive a warning from the umpire. On the second offense, the batter will be called out run rule after 3 innings. 18. A game which is stopped due to inclement weather after three (3) innings will be considered a complete game. 2 ½ innings if the home team is ahead.
3 7u & 8u Rules: 1. 5 inning games. 1 hour time limit. 2. One (1) base maximum on an overthrow on attempted throws to any base. This is not an automatic extra base awarded. Runner(s) can still be out if a play is made. Examples: a. On an overthrow to 1 st, batter can advance to 2 nd, runner at 1 st can advance to 3 rd, runners at 2 nd and 3 rd can score. b. If a play is made on a runner proceeding to 2 nd, and another overthrow occurs either from an infielder or outfielder, runners can advance one additional base. 10. Coach pitches from a distance of 35ft. Start throw from behind 35ft line. 11. Coach pitching must make attempt to get out of the way of play after the ball is hit. 12. If coach pitching is hit by a batted ball, the ball is dead. Batter takes first base. Runners forced to advance, may advance one (1) base. 13. Player at pitcher s position must be behind coach pitching behind 35ft line. 14. Kid pitcher must have a heart guard and a face mask. 15. A catcher will be used. After a ball is caught, the catcher may roll the ball back to the coach behind the plate to throw it back to the coach pitcher. A fly ball caught by the catcher is an out. 16. No steals. Runners may not leave a base until the ball is hit. 17. No bunting allowed. If a batter intentionally bunts, the batter will receive a warning from the umpire. On the second offense, the batter will be called out run rule after 3 innings. 10 run rule after 4 innings. 19. A game which is stopped due to inclement weather after three (3) innings will be considered a complete game. 2 ½ innings if the home team is ahead.

Pitchers must wear a safety shirt or heart guard. 6. Pitching mounds (portable) will be used for all games. 7. Pitchers can pitch no more than three (3) innings per game, five (5) innings per day, and ten (10) innings for the tournament. If a game goes to extra innings, the pitcher s innings do not reset. Must use an additional pitcher. 8. Coach can visit the mound one (1) time per pitcher per game. Upon second mound visit, the pitcher must be removed and is finished for the game. Only the starting pitcher may re-enter the game, limit of one (1) re-entry. No mound visits between innings. A team meeting/timeout during an inning will count as a mound visit. 9. Bat entire roster, and use substitutes. Unlimited runs per inning. 10. Subs must play at least 3 consecutive outs in a game, and take at least 1 at-bat. 11. An inning will end after 3 outs run rule after 3 innings. 10 run rule after 4 innings. 13. No infield fly rule. 14. Once a batter squares to bunt, he cannot pull back then swing.
