First pitch from Omaha s Rosenblatt Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m. Both teams come off strong weekend performances, as the Huskers took a series from then-no. 13 Texas, while the Bluejays swept Illinois State. On the Radio and Internet: Fans across Nebraska can listen to Greg Sharpe, Lane Grindle and Adrian Fiala call the action on the Husker Sports Network, including KLIN 1400 in Lincoln, KRVN 880 AM in Lexington and KFAB 1110 AM in Omaha and on the Internet at Huskers.com. Last Weekend: The Huskers continued their strong early-season showing, going into Austin and taking 2- of-3 against No. 13 Texas to remain in first place in the 3THINGS TO WATCH THIS WEEK 1. Nebraska s 19 wins in March were NU s best single-month total since winning 22 games in April of Left-hander Dan Jennings has not allowed a run in his last 18 innings of work dating back to March 18. Jennings is 2-0 with a save and a 0.45 ERA in that stretch. 3. Jake Opitz is hitting with eight walks over his last five games. conference race. NU got all the offense they needed in the sixth on an RBI single from Abeita, who went 2-for-4 on the night, and Craig Corriston s run-scoring double. In the finale, defensive miscues helped the Longhorns jump to a 6-1 lead before pulling away late. The Bluejays, who won the MVC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Fayetteville Regional a year ago, returned 14 letterwinners from a team that won 45 games last year. First baseman Darin Ruf, the reigning MVC Player of the Year, leads the Bluejay attack with a.365 average with five homers and 29 RBIs, as Creighton features six starters hitting over.300. Third baseman Steve Winkelman leads CU with 30 RBIs and is tied with Ruf for the team lead in homers. The Bluejays will start left-hander Jeremy Hauer on Tuesday against the Huskers, as he has a team-best 5-1 record and 2.62 ERA in eight appearances. Hauer tossed seven shutout innings against Illinois State last Friday. 3 Huskers Climb into Top 10 in Polls The Huskers moved into the top 10 in two of the major polls this week. Nebraska is ranked as high as ninth by Collegiate Baseball and is 10th in the ESPN/ USA Today Coaches Poll. It is the first time the Huskers have cracked the top 10 of any national poll since Feb. 26, 2007, when they were ranked seventh by Collegiate Baseball. Leading Off -The Huskers start is NU s second-best start this decade, as only the 2005 team s record through 26 games is better than the Huskers current start. In fact, the only other team to get off to a better start at this point in the season was the 1983 squad which won its first 26 games. In fact, only one time in school history has Nebraska enjoyed a better month with as many wins was in March of 1983, when the Huskers went 22-0 in the month.
