Yadier Molina Rehab Iconic St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina is expected to join Springfield for a Rehab Assignment during this Saturday and Sunday s games at Hammons Field. One of the most decorated catchers in Major League Baseball history, Molina is an eight-time National League All-Star and eight-time Gold Glove winner. The two-time World Series Champion entered the 2018 season with 1,730 career hits, ranking 10th in Cardinals history. He's the Cardinals all-time postseason leader in hits (90), singles (70), games played (89) and at-bats (315), and ranks first all-time among Cardinals catchers in career hits (1,730), doubles (335) and at-bats (6,092). Since 2006, Molina leads MLB catchers in hits (1,597). 1 st -Place Birds Springfield holds a 0.5-game lead over the Arkansas Travelers for 1 st place in the North Division First Half Standings. In the final stretch of the half, all four North Division teams are within 1.5 games of one another with 16 games left. The First Half Champs in both divisions earn a guaranteed playoff berth. Evan almighty 3B Evan Mendoza extended his five-game hitting streak with an RBI base hit on Friday, and has gone 8x17 with four RBIs and three runs during his streak. The Sarasota, FL native has already tallied five multi-hit performances through his first 14 games with Springfield, after hitting.349 with three homers, seven doubles and 16 RBIs in 37 games to start the year with High-A Palm Beach. He leads all Cardinals Minor Leaguers with a.342 batting average overall this season. Cards and Missions Neither side has been a gracious guest in the series so far, with the road team winning all four games. The Cardinals completed their first-ever sweep of the Missions in San Antonio in a three-game set last weekend, before the Missions claimed the opener at Hammons Field last night. In the series, the Cards have outscored the Missions, 24-12, with INF Edmundo Sosa (7x14, 2 2B, 5 RBI) and INF Tommy Edman (6x16, 1 HR, 2 2B, 4 RBI, 7R) helping lead the charge. The Great Goetzman OF Granden Goetzman continued to produce with a triple, a single and a run on Friday.
