Following tomorrow afternoon's series fi nale at Kauffman Stadium, the Sox continue the trip with two games at Philadelphia and three games at Cleveland the team is off on 9/22. The White Sox will finish the regular season with a seven-game homestand vs. Tampa Bay (9/26-29) and Minnesota (9/30-10/2). The Sox went 6-4 on the last homestand vs. Detroit, K.C. and Cleveland and 2-5 on their last trip at the Tigers and Minnesota. Since owning the second-best record in the majors at on 5/9, the White Sox have gone TODAY'S STORYLINES White Sox starters are 5-3 with a 3.16 ERA (29 ER/82.2 IP) and 80 strikeouts over the last 12 games (10 quality starts). Chicago has not won a series vs. Kansas City since sweeping a three-game set from 9/4-6/15 at Kauffman Stadium. The Sox are hitting.213 (19-89) with two homers, six runs scored, three walks and 24 strikeouts in 2016 vs. Danny Duffy. Jose Quintana allowed just one run over 8.0 IP in his last start on 9/13 vs. Cleveland but is 1-1 with a 5.49 ERA (12 ER/19.2 IP), 1.17 WHIP and 21 strikeouts in his last three outings. Jose Abreu is hitting.397/.430/.658 with six home runs, 22 RBI and 11 multihit efforts over his 17 games (hit safely in 14). LAST NIGHT'S RECAP Wade Davis struck out the side in the ninth inning to close out Kansas City's 3-2 win over the White Sox. After the clubs exchanged fi rst-inning runs, the Royals took a 3-1 lead in the fi fth on RBI singles by Hunter Dozier and Eric Hosmer Avisail Garcia registered a RBI double in the eighth. Miguel Gonzalez suffered his seventh loss after allowing three runs on six hits over a season-high tying 7.0 IP made his 10th quality start over his last 11 outings. Melky Cabrera (2-4) recorded Chicago's only multihit effort Kevan Smith recorded his fi rst MLB hit, a single off Dillon Gee. The Sox went 2-9 with RISP and left eight runners on base. WORK HORSE Jose Quintana is looking to record 30 starts and IP for the fourth consecutive season (2013-) he needs 8.0 IP today. Quintana is looking to become just the 11th pitcher in baseball to record four or more seasons of 30 GS/200.0 IP since 2012 Mark Buehrle ( ) is the last White Sox pitcher to reach those marks in four-plus consecutive seasons. Felix Hernandez, David Price and Justin Verlander are the only pitchers to make 30 starts and work IP four times while playing exclusively in the American League since POCKET ACES Chris Sale is tied for second (3.03) and Jose Quintana ranks fourth (3.05) in the American League ERA rankings this season.
