4 The League: Our Backyard Baseball league is intended to introduce 4 and 5 year old boys and girls to the basics of baseball and to allow them to become part of a team. This is a non-competitive league where our goal is for our youth to HAVE FUN while learning and developing fundamental skills of t-ball. We believe in teaching our youth teamwork and sportsmanship at a young age. You, our parents, are a very vital part of this league and we rely on you to coach, organize, and encourage each and every week! Any unsportsmanlike conduct by a coach, parent, or spectator will not be tolerated. We encourage you to get involved and enjoy the game! Ages: Players must no younger than 4 years by March 1, 2014 and must still be 5 years on January 1, Teams: Each team will consist of players. Teams will be assigned at random. Uniform: As part of the registration fee, each player will receive a matching jersey and baseball cap. We encourage players to wear comfortable pants and each player must wear cleats or athletic shoes on the field. No metal cleats will be allowed. Other Equipment: Parents are responsible for providing their player with an adequate glove. The Parks and Recreation Department will provide helmets, bats, balls, tees and bases. Note: Prior to each game, the League Coordinator will provide each head coach with a roster, field chart, and all necessary equipment to be returned to League Coordinator immediately following play. Although there must be 3 parents on the field during play, we encourage as many parents as possible to be involved, through field coaching, dugout coaching or by providing after game treats.
