The victory improved the Fisher Cats to 5-1 on their current homestand, and moved them to within a half game of third place in the Eastern Division. Chad Girodo earned the win for the Fisher Cats by working 2.2 innings of relief. He retired the first seven hitters he faced before a pair of hits brought home just the second run he's allowed for the Fisher Cats. TODAY S STARTER: Taylor Cole gets the ball in Sunday s series finale against the Fightin Phils. The righty got the win his last time out, allowing four runs on six hits in five innings against Harrisburg on Monday. Cole holds a 5-8 record with a 4.55 ERA in 20 starts. Cole went 3-1 with a 3.48 ERA in July. LAWRENCE OF LEGEND: Casey Lawrence is etching his name in the Fisher Cats record books. His win on 7/21 against Harrisburg gave him 10 on the season, making him the sixth New Hampshire pitcher to reach that singleseason level and the first since Ryan Tepera in He now has 19 wins in a Fisher Cats uniform, matching Deck McGuire for the franchise mark for most career wins. McGuire amassed his wins from , while Lawrence did it from DRAT THAT PLEFFNER FELLOW!: After Scott Barnes departed Tuesday s game against Harrisburg after five perfect frames, Jimmy Cordero allowed two walks but no hits in his two innings of action. The no-hitter lasted until the eighth when the game's third pitcher, Chad Girodo, allowed a lead-off single to Shawn Pleffner to start the frame. For Pleffner, it was the second time he foiled a sublime Fisher Cats pitching performance in a week. On Tuesday, July 21, Casey Lawrence had retired 19 in a row until Pleffner entered the game as a pinch-hitter and broke up Lawrence's perfect bid with a clean base hit. SLAMMIN SCHIMPF: Ryan Schimpf continues to slug away for the Fisher Cats. He holds the team record for most career home runs in a Fisher Cats uniform with 59, including one on Sunday in the finale of the road series at Portland and another Monday against Harrisburg in the first game of the homestand. Schimpf also recently passed the 100 homer mark for his professional career. August by the Numbers Record 1-0 Home 1-0 Away 6-7 Team ERA 7.00 Starters ERA 5.40 Bullpen ERA 7.94 Team AVG.290 Runs/Game 9.00 Home Runs 1 FEELING IT SLIP AWAY: The comeback for the Sea Dogs last Thursday night was a stunner for the Fisher Cats. Prior to Thursday night, New Hampshire had been 38-0 in games where they led after seven innings, and 41-0 when they held the lead going into the ninth inning. The four runs allowed in the bottom of the ninth raised the bullpen s July ERA nearly a run and a half, from 1.79 to NEW HAMPSHIRE ALUMS ALL OVER: With the MLB trade deadline fast approaching and the Toronto Blue Jays in contention within the AL East, plenty of former Fisher Cats are on the move. On Tuesday, the Blue Jays shipped out Jeff Hoffman to the Colorado Rockies as part of the package that brought Troy Tulowitzki to Toronto, on the day that Hoffman had been scheduled to make his third start for the Fisher Cats. On Thursday, Toronto dealt former Fisher Cat hurlers Matt Boyd and Daniel Norris (along with lower-level arm Jairo Labourt) to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for ace pitcher David Price. On Friday, reliever Jimmy Cordero made the move to the Philadelphia Phillies as part of a deal that brings outfielder Ben Revere to the Blue Jays. FANTASTIC 42 AND ON HOLD: Dalton Pompey picked up a third-inning RBI single and tripled to extend his team-record on-base streak to 42 games on 7/16. With his promotion to Buffalo on 7/17, the streak will halt there for now. During the streak, which dates back to 2014, Pompey is hitting.371 with a.428 on-base percentage. He posted eye-popping numbers in June, batting.372 with an OPS of 1.066, five homers and 15 RBI. FISHER CATS ALUMNI REPORT Jean Machi earned a save in his debut for the Boston Red Sox. He gave up a run on a single hit (a homer by Logan Forsythe), and struck out one. Adam Lind collected a single, a double and a run scored in the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs.
