Following this two-game, interleague series at Citizens Bank Park and an off day Thursday, the Sox will conclude the trip and their 2016 road schedule with three games at Cleveland. The White Sox will finish the regular season with a seven-game homestand vs. Tampa Bay (9/26-29) and Minnesota (9/30-10/2). The White Sox need to win nine of their final 12 games to finish with a record at.500 or better since owning the second-best record in the majors at on 5/9, the Sox have gone TONIGHT'S STORYLINES The White Sox are trying to record a winning record during interleague play for the 12th time in club history. Chicago has been outscored, 21-8, during their three-game losing streak the Sox scored three runs or less in each game. James Shields is 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA (4 ER/12.0 IP),.171 opp. average and 13 strikeouts over his last two starts (two QS). Jose Abreu is hitting.388/.425/.663 with seven home runs, 23 RBI and 12 multihit efforts over his 19 games (hit safely in 15). Todd Frazier is three home runs shy of becoming just the seventh White Sox (12th time) to record a 40-homer season. YESTERDAY'S RECAP Yordano Ventura retired the final nine hitters in his completegame effort as Kansas City defeated Chicago, 8-3. The loss was the White Sox 14th vs. the Royals in 2016, their most in a single season in franchise history (6-13 in 2014). K.C. snapped a 2-2 tie by scoring four runs in the fifth and two in the sixth, highlighted by Kendrys Morales' three-run homer. Carlos Rodon fell to 7-10 after allowing six runs on eight hits, including three home runs, with four strikeouts over 4.0 IP. Jose Abreu hit his 25th homer of the season, becoming the first White Sox to hit 25-plus in each of his first three seasons Justin Morneau went 2-4 with a double in his return to the lineup. FOLLOW THE LEADER Jose Abreu needs five home runs and four RBI to join Albert Pujols as the only players in MLB history to record 30-plus homers and 100-plus RBI in each of their first three seasons. He is the first White Sox to hit 25-plus home runs in each of his first three major-league seasons. Abreu has reached base safely in 42 of his last 45 games since 8/2, hitting safely in 38 contests with 22 multihit efforts. Frazier is just the 10th player (17th time) in franchise history to hit 37 or more home runs in a season. POCKET ACES Chris Sale ranks second (3.03) and Jose Quintana ranks eighth (3.26) in the American League ERA race this season. WHITE SOX VS. PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES The White Sox and Phillies are meeting for the sixth time during interleague play and third at Citizens Bank Park. The clubs split a pair of games from 8/23-24 at U.S. Cellular Field, with Chicago owning a 12-6 edge in runs scored. The Sox have gone 2-6 in the last eight games they have not won a series since taking two of three from 6/18-20/02. Chicago is 6-8 all-time, going 3-2 at U.S. Cellular Field and 3-6 in Philadelphia (1-5 at Citizens Bank Park) the White Sox own a edge in runs scored all-time. Third-base coach Joe McEwing was born in Bristol, Pa. and resides in Yardley, approximately 35 miles from the ballpark. INTERLEAGUE INFORMATION Chicago is 9-9 during interleague play in 2016, going 5-5 at U.S. Cellular Field and 4-4 on the road the club is trying to record a winning IL record for the 12th time (9-11 in 2015). DYNAMITE DEBUT Rookie Tim Anderson has recorded 29 multihit efforts in his first 87 career games, tied for the fifth-highest total in Sox history. Anderson ranks among the American League rookie leaders in doubles (T3rd, 18), hits (3rd, 100), runs scored (3rd, 49), multihit games (3rd, 29), triples (T4th, 3) and extra-base hits (6th, 28). He has hit safely in 16 of his last 24 games, batting.289 (28-97) with three doubles, one triple, five RBI and 11 runs scored. DEFENSIVE PROWESS Adam Eaton is attempting to become the first White Sox outfielder to win a Gold Glove since Ken Berry in Eaton leads MLB with 18 OF assists and ranks second with 24 defensive runs saved the 18 assists are the most by a Sox outfielder since 1955 (Minnie Minoso and Jim Rivera, 19).
