Central Division with Milwaukee Kris Bryant and Albert Almora Jr. last night both went deep while starter Eddie Butler allowed one run in 5.2 innings before Mike Montgomery earned the save with 3.1 shutout innings. Montgomery s save last night was his second this season while recording at least 10 outs he had a 4.0-inning save, May 25 vs. San Francisco, and is now the first pitcher with multiple 10-out saves in a season since Boston s Alfredo Aceves in 2011 (thanks to CSN Chicago s Chris Kamka). Bryant s blast was his 13th homer of the season, and his 10th at Wrigley Field his 10 blasts at home rank tied for first in the N.L. with Miami s Justin Bour and Marcell Ozuna and Colorado s Mark Reynolds. STREAKS AND OTHER INFO: Chicago has won a season-high tying four-straight games (also April 18-22) following a season-high six-game skid the team has won seven-straight home games for the first time since a nine-game winning streak last August 16-September 2. Chicago is in 18 series thus far, but has been swept in four series thus far the team has swept two series, including a three-game set at home vs. Cincinnati, May and this past weekend s series vs. the Cardinals. Between Butler s two victories, Cubs starting pitchers went 0-5 with a 6.94 ERA (36 ER/46.2 IP) in nine games from May 26-June 4. Cubs pinch-hitters are batting.322 (28-for-87) with a.402 OBP this season, both the second-highest average and OBP among any N.L. club (St. Louis,.338 average and.407 OBP from its pinch-hitters).
