3 UTPA Diamond Notes 2009 Innings Summary Game Information x The Broncs return to Corpus Christi, TX as they face the Islanders in a double header this Tuesday, March 10 x The Broncs earned their first win of the season against TAMUCC this past Sunday at the Whataburger College Classic x The first match up is scheduled for 12 noon with the second contest scheduled 30 minutes after the first game is done x The Broncs are 1 11 with a 1 6 road record and the Islanders are 4 10 with a 1 6 home record Scouting the Opponent TAMUCC x The Islanders are 4 10 for the season; three of their wins have come against UTPA (Two in Edinburg and One in Corpus) x Third baseman Martin Parra leads the squad with a.365 batting average with 19 hits, six runs, one double, four triples and nine RBI x In the four times the Islanders have faced UTPA, the Broncs have faced the same two starting pitchers: Justin Grota and Brandon Orr x Montgomery hit a three run homerun on Saturday s contest against the Broncs to give the Islanders an 11 2 lead x In the last contest against UTPA, the Islanders struggled on the mound as they went through several pitching changes Wingo Pitches Complete Game; Earns All Tourny x On the final day of the Whataburger College Classic, the Broncs faced TAMUCC for the fourth time this season and defeated the Islanders 9 3 with the help of junior Scott Wingo x The right handed pitcher pitched a complete game for the Broncs, first time this season, while striking out nine batters and walking one x Wingo was voted to the All Tournament team announced this Monday (Mar. 9).
