Yesterday, the Dodgers earned a split in their four-game series with the first-place Diamondbacks, by virtue of a 5-2 victory in the finale. Following this international series, the Dodgers begin a six-game homestand against the D-backs (two games) and Cincinnati Reds (four games) next week. The Dodgers are 3-0 against the Padres this season, following a three-game sweep in San Diego from April Los Angeles outscored San Diego, 30-10, in that series. The Kentucky native has allowed two runs in 10.0 innings this season, while striking out 11 batters. Buehler has also made three starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, going 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA (3 ER/13.0 IP) and holding hitters to a.204 average, while striking out 16 against just four walks. The 23-year-old appeared in his first big league camp this spring and appeared in two Cactus League games (one start) for the Dodgers, allowing just one hit over 4.0 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts against one walk. Buehler was drafted by Los Angeles in the first round (24 th overall) of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Vanderbilt University. According to Stats LLC., at 23 years and 269 days, Buehler became the fourth Dodger pitcher since 2013 (Julio Urías, Zach Lee and Matt Magill) to start a game before his 24 th birthday when he did so on April 23. Buehler has never faced the Padres. DUGGIE DOUBLES: Rookie outfielder Alex Verdugo is making a good first impression in 2018 and went 1-for-4 yesterday, while ripping his third double of the season. Since being recalled for the second game of last Saturday s doubleheader, Verdugo is hitting.353 (6-for-17) with four doubles, two runs scored and two walks in five games. The Arizona native and Mexican-American had four home runs and 15 RBI in 19 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City before his promotion.
