Following tonight's game vs. the Cubs, the Sox will begin an eight-game trip with two games at Wrigley Field followed by two three-game series at Minnesota (7/29-31) and Detroit (8/2-4). The White Sox went 1-5 on their last trip to Los Angeles-AL (0-3) and Seattle (1-2) from 7/ Since owning the second-best record in MLB at on 5/9, the White Sox have gone TONIGHT'S STORYLINES The White Sox are looking to win four consecutive games for the fi rst time since 5/6-9 the last time they won four in a row at U.S. Cellular Field was 4/22-5/3. White Sox starters own a 2.42 ERA (12 ER/44.2 IP),.206 opp. average (34-165) and 41 strikeouts over the last eight games. James Shields is 2-3 with a 2.10 ERA (8 ER/34.1 IP),.220 opp. average and one CG over his last fi ve starts (fi ve QS). Todd Frazier's 29 homers are tied for the second-most of his career (2014), and are just six shy of his career-high 35 (2015). Melky Cabrera has hit safely in 10 straight games, batting.375/.419/.575 with three doubles, one homer and three RBI. Former Chicago Bears CB Charles Tillman, who retired Friday after 13 NFL seasons, will throw tonight's ceremonial fi rst pitch. LAST NIGHT'S RECAP Tyler Saladino hit a game-ending single off Mike Montgomery in the ninth inning to lead the Sox to a 5-4 win over the Cubs. J.B. Shuck singled to open the ninth and was bunted to second by Dioner Navarro before scoring on Saladino's RBI single. The Cubs erased a 4-0 deficit with two runs in the seventh and two in the ninth, including Anthony Rizzo's game-tying single. Todd Frazier hit a three-run homer (No. 29) in the sixth to extend the White Sox lead to 4-0. Miguel Gonzalez received a no decision despite allowing two runs on seven hits and one homer with eight strikeouts in 6.2 IP. The White Sox recorded their third straight walkoff win for the fi rst time since 8/4-6/62. JAMES' SHIELD TAKES SHAPE James Shields is 2-3 with a 2.10 ERA (8 ER/34.1 IP), 1.05 WHIP and.220 over his last fi ve starts (fi ve QS) since 6/29. Shields has lost each of his last three starts despite allowing just three earned runs over 21.2 IP (0.42 RSA; 1 RS). By contrast, he allowed 35 runs (34 earned) on 37 hits, seven homers and 17 walks in fi ve starts (16.1 IP) from 5/31-6/23. Rodon, who has been on the disabled list since 7/9 (retro to 7/6) with a sprained left wrist, is 2-7 with a 4.50 ERA (46 ER/92.0 IP) and 91 strikeouts over 16 starts (eight QS) this season. TRAINING ROOM REPORT Below is a list of White Sox injury updates: INF Brett Lawrie is day-to-day with a strained left hamstring. C Alex Avila has been returned from his rehab assignment after reaggravating his strained right hamstring he is expected to miss at least four weeks before returning to the active roster. LHP Carlos Rodon last night made a minor-league rehab start. OF Austin Jackson underwent an MRI following his right meniscus surgery and is going to continue non-impact activity before beginning baseball activity he will miss several more weeks before returning. RHP Zach Putnam is likely to undergo surgery to remove bone spurs from his right elbow (return date TBD following surgery). WHITE SOX VS. CHICAGO CUBS The White Sox and Cubs play the annual crosstown series this week, with tonight's game at U.S. Cellular Field followed by Wednesday and Thursday at Wrigley Field. The two clubs split six games in 2015, with each club winning two out of three games at the opposing ballpark. The Sox are 8-10 over the last 18 games in the series, and are 6-9 in the last 15 at U.S. Cellular Field the Sox are over 19 all-time season series vs. the Cubs. The White Sox lead the all-time series, they are at U.S. Cellular Field and at Wrigley Field. CROSSTOWN CONNECTIONS Below is a rundown of current players, coaches and broadcasters who have spent time with the White Sox and Cubs: White Sox RHP Zach Putnam (2013), C Dioner Navarro (2013) and RHP Jacob Turner (2014) previously played for the Cubs. OUT GOES FRAZIER Todd Frazier ranks second in MLB with 29 home runs, one behind Baltimore's Mark Trumbo (30). Frazier is on pace to hit a career-high 47 homers, which would be two shy of Albert Belle's club record of 49 set in Frazier leads MLB with 17 solo home runs and is tied with Seattle's Nelson Cruz for the MLB lead with 16 road homers the White Sox are when he hits a home run. DYNAMITE DEBUT Tim Anderson has hit safely in 27 of his 38 career games (16 multihit) since making his MLB debut on 6/10 vs. Kansas City. Anderson's 16 multihit games are tied with four others for the most by a White Sox in his first 38 career games. He is hitting.320/.327/.495 with six doubles, one triple, three home runs and nine RBI over 23 games at U.S. Cellular Field.
