LEFT COAST DUTY STILL STRONG--Last night was the first of six on this journey out west and the outcome remained consistent with the first tour in June...the Royals are now 8-2 in the Pacific Time Zone this year after going 2-1 in San Diego, 2-0 in San Francisco and 3-1 in Anaheim prior to coming here...all told, Kansas City is on the year away from The K, but have flipped the script from a rough 2-11 road start to the year...starting with the first trip of May which was a 3-1 stop in Tampa Bay, the Royals have gone on the road for a.615 winning pct. including wins in nine of its last 12 road games. MOOSE DERBY BOUND--While still vying for a spot on the American League roster via the Final Five vote, Mike Moustakas found out last night that his ticket to Miami has been punched via the Home Run Derby...the possessor of a career-high 23 home runs thanks to last night s second inning blast, Moose becomes the first Royal to participate in the competition in 26 years, joining Bo Jackson (1989) and Danny Tartabull (1991)...Moustakas will battle defending champion Giancarlo Stanton of the host Miami Marlins, rookie sluggers Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees and Cody Bellinger of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon; Stanton s Marlins teammate Justin Bour; Judge s Yankees teammate Gary Sánchez; and Twins third baseman Miguel Sanó on Monday night.
