KENNEDY & PEN MAKES HOMERS HOLD UP--Due to four games in 44 hours over the weekend, the Kansas City bullpen needed a break and Ian Kennedy provided just what the doctor ordered with 6.2 innings to record a 3-1 victory in the trip opener last night...kennedy held the Mariners to a run on four hits with two walks and seven K s, with the lone tally crossing on one of his two wild pitches...he then turned it over to a depleted pen that still provided 2.1 innings of perfect relief, capped the Joakim Soria earning his first save in 15 months and the 204th of his career...the offense consisted of Whit Merrifield manufacturing a run in the first on a double and twice advancing on fly balls to give KC the lead, then home runs by Mike Moustakas (#23) and Alex Gordon (#5)...Moose, who was named to the Home Run Derby during the game, established a career high and club record for homers prior to the break, while Gordo broke his bat on his blast.
