Central to six games behind the Indians, while it remained 1 1/2 in back of Minnesota for the second Wild Card and stayed four behind the Yankees for the host Wild Card position. DUFF TOUGH VS. ROX--Danny Duffy snapped a 4-start victory drought with a strong 6.0-inning stint last night to even his season ledger to it was his first win since July 25 at Detroit, going 0-2 with a pair of no decisions between triumphs...duff retired 17 of the first 19 he faced, including 12 in a row before being charged with a 2-out walk in the sixth that preceded Nolan Arenado s 28th home run...duffy is the second hurler in franchise history to allow more than one run on one hit or less over at least 6.0 innings joining Doug Bird from July 26, 1978, when he gave up three runs on one hit 6.0 innings of a 12-3 win in this ballpark over Seattle...Birdie s mound opponent that night was none other than Mike Parrott. ALEXANDER JOINS RESCUE LIST--In his 60th Major League appearance, southpaw Scott Alexander recorded his first big league save under tenuous conditions to say the least...entering with the bases loaded, two out and a 2-0 count on the hitter, Alexander recorded the 13th save in team history on two pitches or fewer, by getting a ground ball on his second delivery...alexander, who saved 21 games during his minor league career, is the 145th different hurler to record a rescue for the Royals. ONE TO GO FOR MOOSE--Kansas City s 32-year single-season home run record is officially in jeopardy as Mike Moustakas currently possesses 35 blasts, just one behind Steve Balboni s 1985 record of 36...the 35 homers make him the most prolific left-handed home run hitter in team annals, passing John Mayberry s 34 in Moustakas is currently tied with Gary Gaetti (35 in 1995) for second on the single-season list...moose has also climbed into the discussion as the American League home run king, with his 35 roundtrippers tied with Joey Gallo for second in the A.L. behind Aaron Judge s 37...no Royal has ever won an A.L. home run title. ACE 30 REMEMBERING YO--The morning of January 22, 2017 will always be remembered as one of the most tragic days in franchise history when word was received that pitcher Yordano Ventura had his life cut short due to a car accident in his native Dominican Republic...signed as a 17-year old in 2008, the fireballing right-hander compiled a during his abbreviated Major League career...among many highlights, Ace will be most remembered for blanking the San Francisco Giants over 7.0 innings in Game #6 of the 2014 World Series to force a seventh and deciding game, while pitching with a heavy heart himself due to the untimely passing of his friend Oscar Tavares...to honor the late Ventura, all uniforms in 2017 will be adorned with the ACE 30 patch.
