AN AWESOME AUGUST: In 29 games in August, the Orioles led the majors with a.306 average, a.534 slugging percentage, and 57 home runs...their 57 home runs set a new Major League record for the month of August, breaking their own record of 55, set last season The 57 home runs were the third most hit by a team in any calendar month in Major League history, trailing only the 58 hit by the Orioles in May of 1987 and 58 by the Seattle Mariners in May of 1999 The Orioles ranked second in the American League with 169 RBI during the month Orioles relievers ranked fourth in the AL and fifth in the majors with a 2.80 ERA during the month.
