The Rays are 6-9 against AL East opponents, and 4-2 outside the division their first 14 games were vs. AL East rivals. ROAD RAGE The Rays hold the majors worst road record (1-7,.125) and have lost 4 straight road games the Rays have hit.217/.289/.390 on the road compared to.279/.351/.444 at Tropicana Field starting pitchers have actually been better on the road, with a 3.48 ERA (41.1-IP, 16-ER) compared to a 4.20 ERA (75-IP, 35-ER) at home the bullpen has a 6.84 ERA (23.2- IP, 18-ER) on the road and 2.20 ERA (45-IP, 11-ER) at home Rays have committed only 4 errors in 13 home games, but 6 errors in 8 road games. Included in his relief apps were two walk-off homers, both last season at Yankee Stadium (Brett Gardner, Tyler Austin). DOESN T TAKE MUCH In 29 starts with the Rays, has only lost once when he receives 2 runs or more of run support in those 21 starts of 2 runs of support (or more), he is 13-1 with a 2.86 ERA ( IP, 37-ER) has gotten 1 run or fewer of support in 8 starts, and is 0-5 with a 4.53 ERA (45.2-IP, 23-ER) in those starts. WINS & LOSSES Has won both of his decisions this season to snap a career-long-tying 7-game losing streak last season, his 17 decisions in relief were the most by a major league reliever since 2010, when WAS Tyler Clippard went 11-8 his 11 losses as a reliever were the most in the majors since LAA Scot Shields (11) in 2005 and set a club record, passing Brad Boxberger (10) in 2015 his 7 wins included 6 in relief, one shy of the club record for a reliever (last J.P. Howell in 2009) was 4-0 through the Rays first 15 games last season and 6-1 through their first 28 games. EVERYDAY ERASMO Last season, he made a team-leading 64 apps (1 start) in his first full season as a reliever his 85 IP as a reliever led the AL, ranked 2nd in the majors to SD Brad Hand (89.1) and were most by a Rays pitcher since J.P. SUPER STARTER In 2015 his first season with the Rays and first full season in the majors set career highs with 27 starts, IP and 11 wins his 11 wins were one shy of Chris Archer for the team lead averaged only pitches per inning, 3rd fewest in the AL behind TOR Mark Buehrle (14.24) and CLE Corey Kluber (14.74) yielded 2 ER or fewer in 18 of his 27 starts, and 1 ER or fewer in 13 of 27 starts had 5 starts in which he allowed 2 hits or fewer, tied for the AL lead. From April 19 through the end of the 2015 season, he was one of the best pitchers in the AL ranked among league leaders over that span in ERA (3.02, 4th), opp avg. STREAK CONTINUES Makes today s start at 26 years, 358 days, which will mark the 420th consecutive Rays game started by a pitcher under the age of 30, the longest current streak in the majors 35-yearold LH Erik Bedard (July 3, 2014 at DET) was the last 30-plus pitcher to start a game for the Rays. PROUD NICARAGUAN Was the first Nicaraguan-born Rays player and is one of 14 in history to appear in a major league game of the 868 players (includes active, disabled list, suspended and restricted players) to make an Opening Day roster this season, four were born in Nicaragua, most in major league history the others were TB Kevin Gadea (60-day DL), KC Cheslor Cuthbert and LAA J.C. Ramirez previous record was three Nicaraguan-born players (2014, 2012). X-RAY REPORT Began playing baseball in Rivas, Nicaragua when he was 4 his grandmother, Esperanza, encouraged him to play with the older boys and taught him how to pitch was discovered as a 14-year-old by a former coach who was delivering much-needed equipment to underprivileged youth players in Nicaragua that man helped Ramirez get accepted to a baseball academy in El Salvador far away from his family where he was scouted and signed by the Mariners. He shows up to try to help the team win every single day in whatever capacity that may be. Whether it s as a starter, seventh, eighth, ninth inning extra innings he s ready. That s very rare. It takes a special person to do that. If they d have asked any of the other starters to do that, I don t think we would have embraced it quite as much. And we may not have been as successful.
