Delmarva has now lost five games in a row, though they still sport a winning record. The Shorebirds will try to turn things around as they play Greensboro five times in four days, beginning with another doubleheader on Thursday evening, a makeup from April 19th. TODAY S OPPONENT: Jose Adames will start game one for the Greensboro Grasshoppers, bringing a 1-2 record with a 2.96 ERA into the outing. Adames has made two starts against Delmarva already this year, including a loss on April 26th. The right-hander only pitched three innings in that start, allowing just one run, but the Hoppers were shut out 3-0 in game two of that doubleheader. Drew Steckenrider will start game two for Greensboro, making his first start of the season. To this point, Steckenrider has made three appearances from the bullpen. The right-hander has allowed two runs (one earned) in nine innings. BASH BROTHERS: Alex Murphy and Conor Bierfeldt are 1st and 2nd respectively in the South Atlantic League in RBIs. Murphy has driven in 27 runs while Bierfeldt has brought home 26. The two sluggers account for 43.4% of the entire team s RBIs. ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles earned a series win over the Toronto Blue Jays with a 6-1 victory on Wednesday. Miguel Gonzalez improved to 4-2 on the year with a sub-3 ERA, now at The O s scored five runs in the second inning off Aaron Sanchez, spurred by RBI doubles from Caleb Joseph, Manny Machado and Alejandro de Aza. Jimmy Paredes went 2-for-4, raising his average to.364. Rey Navarro hit his first career MLB home run for Baltimore. PLAYER TO WATCH ELIER LEYVA OF After a slow start, Shorebirds outfielder Elier Leyva has picked up his offense in the last week. Going back to the series at Augusta, Leyva has six doubles in his last eight starts. The outfielder has hit safely in 12 of his last 14 games, raising his batting average by over 100 points. The Cuba native is playing his first season in affiliated baseball. WHO S HOT/WHO ELSE WHO S HOT STEVE WILKERSON The Shorebirds infielder had a strong day at the plate during Tuesday s doubleheader. Wilkerson went 5-for-7 on the day, including a 4-for-4 performance in game one. He now leads the team with a.297 batting average. WHO ELSE DONNIE HART The Shorebirds reliever has assumed the role of the team s closer, notching seven saves in seven chances, tied for 1st in the SAL. In Augusta, Hart secured a 4-3 win in extra innings with a quiet 10th.

The left-hander has started the season 1-1 with a 5.60 ERA in six starts. He recorded the first win of his professional career in his Shorebirds debut on April 11th. Last year, Gonzalez pitched mostly in the GCL, allowing just one unearned run in 24.2 innings. Earning a cup of coffee with Aberdeen, Gonzalez gave up five earned runs in nine innings across two starts with the IronBirds. The 19-year-old was the Orioles top draft pick (3rd round) in the 2014 MLB Draft out of high school in Miramar, Florida. LAST OUTING: Gonzalez has struggled in back-to-back starts, with his shortest start as a Shorebird coming last week. Against Asheville, Gonzalez pitched only 2 2/3 innings while allowing five runs on five hits and three walks. It was the first loss for Gonzalez as a Shorebird. AGAINST THE GRASSHOPPERS: Gonzalez has already faced Greensboro three times, half of his starts as a Shorebird. Delgado has been impressive out of the bullpen so far in 2015, leading the team with three wins and posting an ERA of The right-hander made nine appearances (five starts) with Delmarva in Prior to that, Delgado had served as a closer for the GCL Orioles in 2013, and Aberdeen to start the 2014 season. LAST OUTING: Delgado went a season-long 3 1/3 innings in relief last week vs. Asheville. Though the reliever walked a season-high four batters, he only allowed one hit. Delgado came out of the pen early after Gonzalez could not finish the third inning, giving the Shorebirds a sustained outing to save the rest of the staff. 4 Games #32 & 33 Delmarva Shorebirds vs. Greensboro Grasshoppers (Marlins) NewBridge Bank Park MANAGER RYAN MINOR Minor, 41, returns for his seventh season on the Shorebirds coaching staff, and his fifth as the team s manager. In 2014, he led the Shorebirds to 66 wins, the most victories for the franchise since This is Minor s second stint in Salisbury, having previously managed the Shorebirds for three seasons ( ) and spent two seasons ( ) as the hitting coach for the Shorebirds. In between, he managed the Frederick Keys (Advanced-A) in During his tenure as manager of the Shorebirds, the team compiled 232 wins, the most of any Delmarva manager. Minor aided the development of current Orioles, Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop, who played for the Shorebirds in Minor, a longtime resident of Salisbury with his wife Allyson and two children Reagan and Finley, enjoyed a four-year run in the major leagues from 1998 through He spent his first three years with the Orioles and his final season with the Montreal Expos. Minor s playing career is best remembered for replacing Cal Ripken, Jr. at third base on September 20, 1998 when the consecutive games streak of 2,632 came to a close. The Orioles drafted Minor in the 33rd round of the 1996 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Oklahoma. In 1997, he played for Shorebirds and was an SAL All-Star third baseman. He batted.307 with 24 home runs and 97 RBIs. Minor still owns the franchise single season records for doubles (42). Minor also owns a decorated college basketball career. He is sixth all-time in scoring at Oklahoma with 1,946 points. He was selected in the second round (32nd overall) of the 1996 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.
