D.J. Snelten (1-2, 3.43) is slated to make the start on the mound for the Giants tonight. Road Trip Review The Giants finished with a 4-3 record on their road trip that concluded last night. San Jose was swept in a three-game set by Visalia last weekend to open the trip. It was the first time the Giants had been swept in a series this season. San Jose then swept a four-game series in Stockton to finish with a winning record on the trip. It marked the Giants first road series sweep of the season. Sweep In Stockton With last night s victory, the Giants achieved their first four-game sweep in Stockton since the opening weekend of the 2007 season (April 5-8). San Jose improved to 7-0 against the Ports this year. LAST GAME May R H E San Jose Stockton WP: Coonrod (1-1) LP: Graves (2-4) S: Martinez (8) Sam Coonrod tossed six scoreless innings and Chris Shaw hit a two-run home run in the top of the first to lead the Giants to a 2-1 victory over the Stockton Ports last night at Banner Island Ballpark. Coonrod allowed four hits, walked three and struck out three during his outing to pick-up the win. He finished his start by retiring eight consecutive Stockton hitters. Rodolfo Martinez pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth stranding the potential tying and winning runs on base to record the save. Shaw s first-inning blast accounted for all the San Jose offense. The Giants were held to just three hits, including none after the second inning. The Ports only run came on a seventh-inning solo homer from Jose Brizuela. Four Straight Wins The Giants enter this evening s contest riding a season-high tying four-game winning streak. San Jose also won four straight from April The Giants have won eight out of their last 11 games overall. Yesterday s win moved San Jose (14-11) to a season-high three games above.500 for the season. Rare May Home Series The Giants are currently in the midst of stretch (April 29-May 28) playing 24 out of 29 games on the road. Tonight is the first of only eight home games for San Jose during the entire month of May. The Giants have won a season-high four straight home games. Offensively, San Jose has fared considerably better at home this season. The Giants are batting.295 and averaging 6.0 runs per game at Municipal Stadium compared to a.241 team average and 4.2 runs per contest on the road. Shaw Surging During the just-completed road trip (seven games), first baseman Chris Shaw went 11-for-26 (.423 AVG) with three doubles, four home runs and 14 RBI s. Shaw has hit safely in 20 out of his last 22 games. The former first round draft pick is currently fifth in the California League in batting average (.351), tied for fifth in home runs (6), third in RBI s (23), second in slugging (.649) and fifth in on-base percentage (.415). League Leader Shortstop C.J Hinojosa is leading the California League with a.382 batting average.
