Congratulations to Joe Greuel, Luke Chatfield, Jayson Wetzel and Josh Spitzer. These students attended the American Foundry Society s (AFS) annual meeting last night at Klemmer s Banquet Hall. This was the first year for the AFS to hold a contest for high school and college level students (we were the only high school to enter castings). Students created a cup, saucer, spoon casting, which is an incredibly difficult mold to make. This was an old English mark of achievement for a foundry apprentice to become a foundryman, which is being brought back for similar purposes. Our students entered three castings, and were up against engineering and manufacturing students from UWM and UW- Platteville for a total of 14 castings entered. Students placed as followed: 1 st Place: Joe Greuel 2 nd Place: Luke Chatfield and Jayson Wetzel 4 th Place: Josh Spitzer 2 P age

3 PWHS Boys Golf by Kurt Baehmann CHARACTER COUNTS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK We are proud to present Peyton Gardipee as this week s Character Counts Athlete of the week. Peyton Gardipee is a Senior on the Boy s Golf Team, and was voted Captain by his fellow teammates. He embodies the term student-athlete due to his dedication both in the classroom and on the golf course. Peyton can be counted on to lead our team, and always has something positive to say to encourage his fellow golfers. He is always there to lend a hand, give an underclassman a ride to practice and is respectful to everyone he interacts with. He has truly earned the #1 spot, and will be missed next season as he heads off to college. Thanks for all of your hard work and leadership Peyton, best of luck! CONGRATULATIONS PEYTON! 3 P age

It's impossible to prevent all ankle sprains. But everyone can take precautions to make sprains less likely. The best way to prevent ankle sprains is keeping your ankles flexible and your leg muscles strong. Your coach, doctor, or PE teacher can give you some easy at-home exercises to build muscle strength (which protects ligaments) and joint flexibility. Here are some other ways to protect yourself against ankle sprains: Always warm up and use the recommended stretching techniques for your ankles before playing sports, exercising, or doing any other kind of physical activity. Watch your step when you're walking or running on uneven or cracked surfaces. Don't overdo things. If you're tired or fatigued, it can make an injury more likely. Slow down, stop what you're doing, or take extra care to watch your step when you're tired. 5 P age
