Pitt Pitt Pitt LONG BALL DOOMS HOMESTAND FINALE--The Royals closed out their next-to-last stay of 2018 with a 9-6 loss to the Twins yesterday, as Minnesota salvaged the finale of the four-game series...kansas City completed the stay with a 5-2 mark, taking two of three from the White Sox, prior to winning the first three games of Minnesota s visit...jakob Junis had a rough 26th birthday on the hill, allowing four runs on eight hits over 3.0+ innings, with three of the eight hits leaving the yard, his sixth three-homer game of the year...he also surrendered a first-inning walk, which snapped a streak of 118 consecutive batters faced between free passes dating back to August 17...pitch efficiency was not a strong suit on Sunday, as Jakob needed 82 pitches to get through his 3.0+ innings...despite leaving with a 4-2 deficit, he was not the pitcher of record as the KC offense came alive to knot the score at 5-5 in the fifth when Adalberto Mondesi clubbed his ninth home run of the year...unfortunately, the Twins came right back with a pair of sixth-inning tallies against reliever Jerry Vasto to hand the rookie his first career decision...mondesi and Ryan O Hearn each had three hits to lead KC s 13-hit attack. FINAL JOURNEY OF If Mother Nature is cool with it, tonight will jumpstart the final road trip of the season featuring stops in a pair of National League cities...following this three-game stop in PNC Park, the Royals will head to Detroit for a four-game set beginning Thursday and then will wrap up the road schedule with a pair in Cincinnati following an off day a week from tonight while Kansas City has had a second half resurgence in Kauffman Stadium, the Royals have scuffled throughout the season away from The K posting a ledger with nine to go...kc has gone 3-13 in its last 16 road tries...the club has gone 3-2 in National League parks this year (2-1 in St. Louis and 1-1 in Milwaukee). AT THE DISH--Keller has not had a plate appearance at the big league level and was 1-for-22 (.045) last season with Jackson (AA), with a pair of walks since the beginning of Interleague play in 1997, Royals pitchers have batted.127 (54-for-426) with 10 doubles, a homer and 18 RBI KC pitchers are 1-for-9 this year, with Ian Kennedy collecting the only hit, singling on May 21 at St. Louis off Miles Mikolas. ON THE ROAD--Brad is making his ninth road start and 20th overall appearance away from home, entering with a 3-5 mark and a 3.18 ERA (20 ER in 56.2 IP) he most recently suffered a 3-1 setback at Progressive Field on September 5, after winning his previous two road decisions he s pitched to a 3.00 ERA (8 ER in 24.0 IP) in his four road starts since the All-Star break.
