Los Angeles, which has won 16 of its last 21 games since May 17, improved to on the season and went over the.500 mark for the first time this year since posting an record on April 23. Following the victory, the Boys in Blue pulled within 1.5 games of the first-place D-backs and are in second place in the division for the first time since April 23. Following the weekend matchup against Atlanta, the club will welcome the Rangers for a two-game interleague series (June 12-13) and will host their division rivals, the Giants, for a three-game set (June 15-17). Los Angeles took the season series last year over Atlanta, 4-3, including winning four of its last five games. The Dodgers have been dominant against the Braves at Dodger Stadium since the beginning of the 2014 campaign, winning 11 of 14 games at the Ravine during that span. Despite the overall record at home this season, the Dodgers have picked it up at the Ravine as of late, as they have won seven of their last 10 contests at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers tonight will give away to the first 40,000 ticketed fans in attendance a Manny Mota Bobblehead presented by Jack In The Box. In celebration of the bobblehead, Mota s wife, Margarita, will throw out the first pitch with Manny himself catching for her. JUNE BOOM: The Dodger bats started off Friday Night Fireworks with a show of their own, as the club hit a season-high five home runs in last night s contest against the Braves. With the five longballs, Los Angeles has launched a Major League leading 22 home runs in seven games during the month of June, including hitting three homers in a game in six of the seven contests this month. Dodger backstop Yasmani Grandal stroked his first multi-homer game of the season, the ninth of his career (last: June 21, 2017 vs. NYM) and his sixth at Dodger Stadium with two solo shots off of former batterymate Brandon McCarthy in the second and fourth innings. The homers were Grandal s 99 th and 100 th career longballs, which are the 15 th most among active catchers. Dodger outfielder Joc Pederson (7) and infielder Max Muncy (10) connected on back-to-back bombs in the fifth inning, for the clubs fourth back-to-back homers this season. To top it off, Dodger first baseman Cody Bellinger stroked his team-high 12 th homer of the season (8 th, NL) with a towering solo bomb in the eighth inning, as he has homered in four consecutive games for the first time in his career. The last time a Dodger hit a homer in five or more consecutive games was Pederson, who had a longball in five straight contests from May 31-June 3, The Dodgers have slugged 78 home runs this season, which is currently tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for the most in the National League. The clubs.420 slugging percentage and.741 OPS also ranks the fourth best in the Senior Circuit. Along with leading the league in home runs in June, Los Angeles also ranks the best in baseball in runs per game (8.86), runs (62), RBI (58), extra-base hit (38), slugging percentage (.632) and OPS (.999) this month. The Dodgers are one of three teams in the National League to boast five players with eight homers or more as they are led by Cody Bellinger (12), Yasmani Grandal (11), Matt Kemp (10), Max Muncy (10) and Chris Taylor (8). The other two teams are the Diamondbacks and Cubs. Despite hitting just one home run in the first 53 games of the season, Pederson has launched six longballs in his last six contests. During that span, he has gone 9-for-20 (.450) with nine runs, two doubles and eight RBI along with a OPS. ON THE MOUND: Tonight, the Dodgers will send left-hander Alex Wood to the mound for his 13 th start of the season as he looks to record his second victory of the year. Wood last pitched on Sunday at Colorado, allowing six runs on five hits over 2.0 innings and punched out two as he did not factor in the decision. Thus far, the southpaw has posted a 4.48 ERA (32 ER/64.1 IP) while striking out 60 batters against 13 walks. The native of North Carolina has held hitters to a.246 average, while posting a 1.13 WHIP, which ranks the 11 th lowest in the National League. After tossing a ninth inning in a non-save situation last night, Dodger closer Kenley Jansen has collected 15 saves this season, which is currently tied for the third most in the National League. Over his last 21 relief appearances since April 21, he has allowed just three earned runs over 23.0 IP (1.17 ERA), while collecting 13 saves in 13 opportunities, striking out 24 against just four walks and holding hitters to a.165 average. VOTE KEMP: Dodger outfielder Matt Kemp continues to turn back the clock as he finished last night s game going 1-for-4 with a run scored and has now scored a run in his last seven games. Kemp also extended his hitting streak to a season-high seven games, batting.370 (10-for-27) with 10 runs, two doubles, three homers and 10 RBI during that span along with a OPS. He has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games since May 25, batting.408 (20-for-49) with 14 runs, four doubles, five homers and 18 RBI. On the year, Kemp has posted a.347/.377/.582 slashline with 29 runs, 16 doubles, 10 home runs and 40 RBI in 61 games. He currently leads the National League in batting average, trailing only Boston s Mookie Betts (.359) for the best average in the Majors. In addition, Kemp s.959 OPS ranks third on the Senior Circuit while his.582 slugging percentage leads the NL and ranks sixth in the Majors. His team-high 40 RBI is also the ninth most in the NL.
