FATEFUL EIGHTH LEADS TO EIGHTH--The Royals appeared poised to take advantage of returning to Kauffman Stadium on Friday night, carrying a 4-2 advantage into the eighth inning, but the Twins rallied for a 4-spot in the eighth to take a 6-4 decision and hand Kansas City its eighth straight loss... the drought matches the longest losing streak a season ago (June 2-10), while the 7-15 start is just a game better off than the most recent slow 22-game start when the Royals were 6-16 to begin as for Friday, Joakim Soria, who had not been scored upon this year, gave up all four eighth inning runs, three of which were earned, with the big blows a bases loaded double by Miguel Sano and 2-run double by Joe Mauer...Mauer s 114 career RBI vs. the Royals are second most by an active player behind only Detroit s Victor Martinez (122)...Ian Kennedy was limited to just 5.1 innings due to a pitch count that reached 100 at the time of his departure...he was solid while on the hill, allowing just two hits and two runs with a walk and six K s...salvador Perez had a home run (#6) and double, while Brandon Moss also went deep (#4).
