ROYALS 4 - NATIONAL LEAGUE 2--Kansas City continued to show on the national stage on Tuesday night in San Diego, as a trio of Royals led Ned Yost s American League squad to a 4-2 victory and icing the home field in the World Series...Eric Hosmer, making his first career All-Star appearance, hit a gametying homer in the second and then singled home the fourth and final run to earn the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award...Salvador Perez, MLB s leading vote-getter, contributed a two-run homer in the second inning, just a single after Hosmer s blow, marking the first time teammates homered in the same inning of a Midsummer Classic since Steve Garvey and Jim Wynn took Vida Blue deep in oddly enough, it was the first time that Hoz and Sal ever homered in the same inning...with Hosmer and Perez combining for all four A.L. runs, it was the first time two teammates drove in all of the runs for the winning team...also contributing was Kelvin Herrera, who needed only nine pitches to coast through a -2-3 sixth BIG VISIT AHEAD--The Royals were scheduled for an off day at home next Thursday, but that has turned into the honor of visiting the White House as President Barack Obama has officially invited the 205 World Series champs to his residence...the club will travel after Wednesday s day game against the Indians and then head to the White House mid-morning on Thursday with the official ceremonies slated for :50 a.m. (EDT) in the East Room...it marks the second trip in franchise history to the home of the President, with the 985 club visiting President Ronald Reagan on Halloween.
