TRANSACTIONS: Prior to tonight s game, the Phillies recalled right-hander Jake Thompson from Lehigh Valley (AAA) To make room for Thompson on the 25-man roster, infielder/outfielder Ty Kelly was optioned to Lehigh Valley Thompson has posted a 0.98 ERA (2 ER, 18.1 IP) over his last three starts for the IronPigs. PIVETTA FACES FORMER MATES: Tonight s starter, Nick Pivetta, will toe the slab for his second career Major League start, and his first against the team who drafted him Pivetta was acquired from the Washington Nationals for Jonathan Papelbon and cash considerations on July 28, 2015; He was originally selected by Washington in the fourth round of the June 2013 draft With Pivetta joining the starting staff following Aaron Nola s DL stint, all five members of the Phillies current starting rotation were acquired in a trade within the last two-plus years. ONE AND DONE: Of the Phillies 15 losses this season, eight have been by one run which are the most single-run defeats in Major League Baseball this season The Phils are 5-8 (.385) in one-run games in 2017 after finishing last year with a record (.549) in such contests. LEAKY PEN: The Phillies bullpen has given up 21 home runs this season, the most of any relief corps in the major leagues, and four homers more than the four teams tied for second-most Philadelphia has also blown seven saves which is the most of any National League club.
