The Sox are 3-6 on the homestand vs. Oakland (0-3), New York-AL (2-2) and Texas (1-1), suffering a 10-4 loss yesterday to Texas after rallying in the ninth inning to win Friday's opener. Following today's game, the Sox close the fi rst half with a sixgame, seven-day trip to Oakland (7/3-5) and Colorado (7/7-9). The Sox went 3-3 on their last trip to Toronto (2-1) and Minnesota (1-2) from 6/ TODAY'S STORYLINES Today marks the halfway point of the White Sox season. José Quintana is 2-1 with a 1.78 ERA (6 ER/30.1 IP) over his last fi ve starts and 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA (3 ER/22.0 IP) and 0.73 WHIP in three career home starts vs. Texas. The White Sox have won six of their last seven home games against the Rangers and 14 of 19 overall. José Abreu has homered in back-to-back games, and is batting.348 (31-89) with 10 doubles, fi ve home runs and 21 RBI in his last 21 games. Rookie Kevan Smith owns a.422 (19-45) average in his last 13 games. Melky Cabrera is hitting.347 (34-98) over his last 23 games. Chicago's average time of game this season is 3:09, including 3:17 over their last 28 games. YESTERDAY'S RECAP Texas rallied from an early two-run defi cit to record a 10-4 victory over the White Sox. José Abreu homered for the second straight game, a two-run shot off Cole Hamels in the fi rst inning. The Sox pulled to within 6-4 on pinch-hitter Kevan Smith's two-run double in the seventh, but Texas scored four runs in the eighth to account for the fi nal margin. Derek Holland, making his fi rst career start against his former team, allowed fi ve runs over 5.1 IP in a losing effort the Sox bullpen gave up fi ve runs over 3.2 IP. Melky Cabrera collected two of Chicago's four hits. The Sox suffered their 20th loss of the season after leading, and their six-game home winning streak vs. Texas ended. MLB PLAY BALL WEEKEND Major League Baseball's second annual Play Ball Weekend, an initiative to engage young baseball fans and celebrate youth participation in baseball and softball, launches this weekend in ballparks around the league. As part of the initiative, kids from the White Sox Little League and Kids Club programs will participate in gameday experiences at Guaranteed Rate Field today, including Take the Field and Lineup Card Exchange. All kids, ages 13 and under, will receive an MLB Play Ball bat and ball set upon exit from the ballpark. SOX SERVE WEEK The White Sox today are concluding Sox Serve Week their ninth annual community outreach and fundraising campaign benefi tting Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC).. Sox Serve Week includes a series of outreach events that involve players and team personnel giving back to the community in addition, fans viewing and attending games during the week can participate in unique fundraising activities, which have raised more than $1.3 million for CWSC in the last eight years. ON THE FARM Class A Winston-Salem RHP Alec Hansen posted a no decision last night at Carolina despite allowing one run on four hits over 5.0 IP. Hansen, the No. 10 prospect in the White Sox organization, has combined to go 7-3 with a 2.29 ERA (21 ER/82.2 IP) and 102 strikeouts over 15 starts this season between Class A Kannapolis (13 starts) and Winston-Salem (two) he is averaging 11.1 strikeouts per 9.0 IP. FUTURE STARS C Zack Collins and RHP Michael Kopech (U.S. Team) and INF Yoán Moncada (World Team) will represent the White Sox in the All-Star Futures Game on 7/9 in Miami. Moncada, the No. 1 prospect in baseball, was the Most Valuable Player of the 2016 All-Star Futures Game Kopech (No. 11) and Collins (No. 70) are ranked by MLB.com among the Top 100 prospects in baseball. THE RUNS ARE UNEARNED The White Sox have allowed 41 unearned runs in 2017, the second-highest total in the American League behind Oakland (52) since 2013, the Sox lead MLB with 306 unearned runs.
