The previous time the Cubs had seven games postponed due to weather was in 1986 the previous time the team had five postponed at Wrigley Field was in 2009 thanks to Ed Hartig for his research assistance. The Cubs on Saturday night earned win No. 40 this season last year, the Cubs did not reach 40 wins until June 29 en route to 43 wins at the All-Star Break. Following this three-game set, the team heads right back out for an eight-day, eight-game road trip through Cincinnati and Los Angeles from June ON THE RECORD: The Cubs own a.588 winning percentage, second-best in the N.L. behind only Atlanta (.592) Chicago s 28 setbacks are the fewest in the Senior Circuit. MONTY IN GAME TWO: Mike Montgomery tonight makes his fifth start since jumping into the rotation in place of Yu Darvish, currently on the 10-day D.L. Montgomery is 6-3 with a 1.99 ERA (13 ER/58.2 IP) in his last 11 turns in Chicago s starting rotation since July 19 of last season he s allowed one or no runs in nine of those outings.
