Las Vegas sweeps Portland with 14-1 victory in finale of eight-game road trip: The 51 s defeated the Beavers 14-1 for their season-high fifth straight victory in the finale of the four-game series last night before a crowd of 6,183 at PGE Park. Las Vegas outscored Portland 36-6 in the series. Las Vegas offense: The 51 s tied season highs in runs scored (14) and hits 19). Left fielder Travis Snider was 4- for-6, 5 RBI and set a franchise record with four doubles. 2 Game Recaps: Las Vegas defeats Portland 8-4 for third straight victory (Wednesday, July 29): The 51 s rallied to defeat the Beavers 8-4 in game two of the four-game series at PGE Park. Las Vegas offense: The 51 s recorded 7 hits and rallied from a 4-1 deficit. First baseman Brian Dopirak was 2-for-4 with 7 RBI. He hit a grand slam in the fourth inning and a three-run home run in the eighth inning. Second baseman Howie Clark was 2-for-5, double, RBI; third baseman Kevin Howard was 1-for-3, walk, two runs scored and shortstop Angel Sanchez was 1-for-3, walk, run scored. Portland offense: The Beavers recorded 8 hits and built a 4-1 lead after five innings. Third baseman Seth Johnston was 2-for-4, with two solo home runs in the second and fifth innings. The Silver State Diamond Challenge: The 51 s and Aces have developed the Silver State Diamond Challenge and accompanying trophy (Silver Plate) to add to the excitement of the new intrastate rivalry each summer The City of Reno and all of Northern Nevada embrace the Aces, said Reno Mayor Bob Cashell. We are excited about our inaugural season in the Pacific Coast League, especially the season challenge with our neighbors to the south.
