Based on the NFCA ranking this season was the Lady Vols first time since 2014 ranked in the top 5 in the NFCA Coaches Poll. The Vols have been ranked for 942 straight games, a streak that started back on Feb. 17, UT has a record during that span. K-So Awesome Pitcher Caylan Arnold has thrown over 100 strikeouts this season and has over 300 career strikeouts. She is currently ranked third in the SEC with 174 strikeouts and 18th in the nation. Not only does she strike them out, but she catches them while they are looking. She is tied for third in the SEC in strikeouts looking with 49 on the season. I Got Your Back Meghan Gregg is one of the best players in the nation. She plays well at shortstop but better than that she is one of the best hitters in the country. Gregg has been walked 31 times this season and 16 of those came with runners in scoring position and twice was with bases loaded. Sophomore Chelsea Seggern has been tasked with protecting Gregg in the event teams want to pitch around her. Seggern has been making teams think twice about pitching around Gregg. Seggern has record 53 RBIs which is second in the SEC and is fourth in the NCAA. When teams have walked Gregg in front of her, Seggern has picked up 17 RBIs for the Lady Vols. 9 Thru 4 Production In the game of softball everyone knows that production is key in being successful. That unit has scored 165 runs, had 246 hits, 19 home runs and 136 RBI s. Leading Things Off Aubrey Leach has a.580 on base percentage and a.548 slugging percentage as the lead off batting for the Lady Vols. Leach is second in the NCAA in runs per game with She is also tops in the NCAA in batting average (11th), hits (6th) and on base percentage (5th) She is first in the SEC in batting avg. (.459), runs scored (60) and on base pct (.580). She has managed to reach base every game this season with the exception of two games the Oregon game back on Feb. 24 at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic and the third game in the Auburn series. Welcome Back Brooke Vines missed the first 25 games of the season due to injury but she has returned. Vines made her first appearance in the game against Cleveland State as a pinch hitter. However, Vines finished the week with a.500 batting average scoring two runs with 9 hits. She also had four RBIs and drew two walks. Vines got her first home run of the season against South Carolina. Vines has recorded 13 hits and seven RBIs. Non-Conference Success Tennessee is 29-1 in non-conference games. The Lady Vols have outscored opponents and posted a team ERA of 1.28 against non-conference opponents in The Big Orange hold a (.847) record in non-conference games over the past six seasons. Tennessee vs. Ranked Foes The Lady Vols are 9-7 vs. ranked foes this year with wins over Arizona State, Utah, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Georgia, Auburn and a series sweep of LSU. They will face their ninth ranked opponent this weekend when they travel to Tuscaloosa to face No. 15/15 Alabama. The SEC currently has 11 teams ranked in the top 25. The Vols bring back five players who earned SEC postseason honors in 2017: Meghan Gregg (SEC Player of the Year/1st Team/SEC All Defensive Team), Matty Moss (2nd Team), Brooke Vines (2nd Team), Caylan Arnold (SEC Freshman of the Year/Freshman Team) and Chelsea Seggern (Freshman Team) Preseason All-SEC selection Megan Gregg also returns for the Vols after leading the team with 73 hits, 18 doubles, 15 home runs and 79 RBIs last season. Sophomores who are expected to have a bigger role this season include P Caylan Arnold and IF Chelsea Seggern. Other key returners include P Matty Moss, OF CJ McClain, UT Scarlet McSwain, IF Aubrey Leach and OF Jenna Holcomb. Senior Studs Lady Vols seniors Meghan Gregg, Scarlet McSwain and CJ McClain are coming up big for Tennessee this season. As a group they scored 70 runs and had 89 RBIs and 108 hits to start the season. They also had 20-home runs. Strong Pitching Tennessee softball has recorded 293 strikeouts as a staff but what s impressive is that they have record 80 while looking which is tops in the SEC. The staff also has an ERA of 2.26 while holding opponents to a.210 batting average. They have seven saves on the season, which is the top in the SEC and they are tied for third in the conference in wins with 34. Moss has picked up 30 strikeouts looking and is tied for first in the SEC in saves with four in Review Tennessee advanced to their 14th straight NCAA Tournament and 15th overall last season. They also hosted their 13th consecutive regional. The Vols were nearly unbeatable at home in 2016, posting a 24-3 record overall and a 22-1

3 mark during the regular season. UT boasted a potent offense, finishing eighth in the nation in scoring at 6.37 runs per game. The Vols also finished eighth nationally in on-base percentage and 19th in batting average. Meghan Gregg was name NFCA All-American and SEC Player of the Year while Caylan Arnold was selected as SEC Freshman of the Year. Meghan Gregg, Matty Moss and Brooke Vines were named All-SEC while Caylan Arnold and Chelsea Seggern were named to the All- Freshman Team. NFCA Hall of Fame Karen Weekly will be inducted into the 28th class of the NFCA Hall of Fame in December 2018 joining husband Ralph who was inducted in Both Weeklys are members of the 1,000 wins club. Karen is ranked 18th Nationally with 1,062 career wins and Ralph is fourth all-time among Division I softball coaches with 1,340 wins. The Streak Tennessee has won 94 consecutive games against in-state opponents. The Vols are 89-0 against in-state teams under co-head coaches Ralph & Karen Weekly. Led by eight year head coach Brad Irwin. Eight of the Bucs losses during the stretch have been by three runs or less. Madison Ogle has allowed three earned runs or less in 18 of her 22 appearances. Ogle ranks second in the SoCon in innings (118.0), third in strikeouts (102), sixth in ERA (2.43) and opposing batting average (.231), and is tied for sixth in wins (9). Through 118 career games, junior Tiffany Laughren is hitting.312 (103-for-330) with 28 doubles, one triple, 11 home runs, 53 runs, 54 walks and 54 RBIs.
