The 6-5, 235-pounder was New York's 13th-round pick in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft from Franklin Pierce University (NH)... When McGowan makes his major league debut he will became the second player from Franklin Pierce to appear in the majors, joining LHP Steve Hathaway, who pitched for Arizona last year. METSCELLANEOUS: The Mets have lost seven of their last eight games and are 2-8 in their last 10 games...new York is since the All-Star break...the Mets are 15 games under.500 for the first time since September 28, 2013 (73-88).
