Charlie Blackmon led the National League and ranked tied for second in MLB with 11 home runs in August that is one short of the Rockies franchise record of 12 home runs in the month of August (Dante Bichette in 1995, Andres Galarraga in 1996). DJ LeMahieu finished August with a.439 (43-for-98) batting average, which led the Major Leagues. The Rockies are the first team to have three separate players lead the National League in each of the three Triple Crown categories for a single month since the Dodgers accomplished the feat in Sept. of 2014 it was the fourth time in the divisional era that this has occurred (also: Braves in May of 1991 and Aug. of 1973). A Rockies player also led the league in runs (Blackmon, 30) and on-base percentage (LeMahieu,.535) the last time a team had individual players lead the five offensive categories that Rockies players held in August, not including ties, was the Cincinnati Reds in FIRST CAR The Rockies have two players among the National League leaders in batting: DJ LeMahieu, (.343, 2nd) and Charlie Blackmon (.317, 4th). OKAY WITH LOSING SOME INDEPENDENCE Stephen Cardullo, who turned 29 last Wednesday, hit his first career home run in the first game of the doubleheader, his fourth career Major League game. In the second game, hit his first career grand slam per Elias, became the second player in MLB history to hit his first two career home runs on his birthday (also: Angel Pagan, July 2, 2006 vs. Chicago-AL). LOOKING DOWN Nolan Arenado is first in the National League with 37 home runs and tops MLB with 118 RBI. Scored his 100th run of the season Friday, becoming the first Rockies player since Carlos Gonzales in 2010 (111 runs, 117 RBI) to record 100 or more runs and RBI in the same season. Arenado is 28-for-64 (.438) his past 16 games since Aug. 21, hitting seven home runs and driving in 20 runs over that stretch has 10 multi-hit games over that span. BIG FISH According to STATS, DJ LeMahieu is one of only five Rockies to hit 10 or more home runs in a single season while playing second base he joins Clint Barmes (22, 2009), Jose Ortiz (13, 2001), Mike Lansing (12, 1998, 11, 2000) and Todd Walker (12, 2001).
