Central Division champions, tonight play the second of three games against the Cincinnati Reds after taking night s series opener, 5-2 down 2-0 in the seventh, Addison Russell and Willson Contreras hit solo homers before Dexter Fowler delivered a game-winning single Jason Heyward added insurance with a two-run homer in the eighth as Jason Hammel (7.0 IP, 2 ER) recorded his 15th win of the season. WHAT S IN AN AGE?: With 21 homers and 93 RBI on the season, Addison Russell is just the second Cub to reach the 20-homer mark in his age 22 season or younger joining Ron Santo (23 homers in age 21 campaign in 1961). Russell is the first shortstop to reach 93 RBI in his age 22 or younger season since Troy Tulowitzki did so at age 22 in 2007 with Colorado (99 RBI). Russell s 93 RBI lead all shortstops, one ahead of Houston s Carlos Correa. Russell is the first Cubs shortstop to reach 93 RBI since Ernie Banks logged 117 RBI in 1960 (156 games at shortstop that season).
