THREE-DAY WEEKEND!: The Dodgers, winners of three of their last four games, continue their six-game homestand (2-1) with the first of three games against the D-backs. Los Angeles took two of three games from the Padres to open the homestand, including yesterday s 7-4 win, to improve to a season high-tying 16 games over.500. Following the Arizona series, the Dodgers will embark on a 10-game road trip, their longest of the season, with games against the Marlins, Yankees and D- backs. The Dodgers record at home (.620) is the second best in the National League, trailing only the Cubs (51-20,.718). Los Angeles is in pursuit of its fourth consecutive divisional title and continues to lead the NL West, 3.0 games ahead of the San Francisco Giants, which ties for its largest lead of the year. The Dodgers are unbeaten in their last nine home series against the D-backs (8-0-1), last dropping a set to Arizona at Dodger Stadium June 10-12, Los Angeles has posted a 21-7 home record vs. the D-backs in that span, while outscoring Arizona in those 28 games. Overall, the Dodgers have posted a record (.700) against Arizona since the start of the 2014 season, the best of any MLB team against a divisional opponent during that time (Source: Stats, LLC). DOING IT ALL: Corey Seager, a top candidate for National League Rookie of the Year honors, ranks among the NL leaders in hits, (164, T- 3 rd ), runs (89, T-5 th ), doubles (37, T-3 rd ), total bases (276, 5 th ), batting average (.313, 6 th ), multi-hit games (48, 4 th ), extra-base hits (63, 6 th ) and slugging percentage (.527, 10 th ). Seager s 23 home runs are the most ever by a Dodger shortstop and are tied for the third most by a Los Angeles rookie with Frank Howard (1960) and behind only Mike Piazza (35, 1993) and Joc Pederson (26, 2015). Yasmani Grandal has homered in consecutive games and leads Major League catchers with a career-high 23 home runs, the most by a Los Angeles backstop since Paul Lo Duca s 25 homers in Yasiel Puig tied a season high with three runs scored and also drove in three yesterday with a third-inning home run, his first homer since July 4. Puig has posted a.320/.407/.474 slashline in his last 30 games with the Dodgers since June 21, going 31- for-97 with six doubles, three homers and 17 RBI in that span, and has hit well against the D-backs during the last two seasons, batting.371 (23-for-62) in 15 games since Since the All-Star break, the Dodgers rank among the Majors best in team batting average (.268, 6 th ), slugging percentage (.447, 4 th ) and runs per game (5.07, 3 rd ). Overall, Maeda has won five of his last six decisions and has limited opposing hitters to a.223 batting average, the 10 th -best mark in the NL. The Dodgers had four consecutive rookie starting pitchers Aug with Julio Urías, Brock Stewart, Kenta Maeda and Ross Stripling and are slated to do it again this week with José De León (yesterday), Maeda, Stripling and Stewart. According to Stats, LLC, prior to last week, the Dodgers hadn t pitched four consecutive rookie starters since they were in Brooklyn, Sept. 8-10, 1952 (Ken Lehman, Billy Loes, Ray Moore, Johnny Rutherford). In the fifth inning of yesterday s game, San Diego s Travis Jankowski was originally credited with a bunt single before a throwing error by José De León allowed both Padres runners to advance. The scoring on the play has been revised to a straight error on the pitcher (no hit), changing De León s final line to 6.0 innings, five hits and only three earned runs (four total runs allowed). THE BIG MAN: Kenley Jansen picked up his 41 st save of the season yesterday and ranks among the National League s best in saves (41, 2 nd ), A (1.82, 4 th ), opponents batting average (.153, 3rd), WHIP (0.67, 1 st MLB) and strikeouts (88 in 59.1 innings, 4 th ). Jansen is three saves shy of his career high of 44, set in 2014, and has posted just the seventh 40-save season in franchise history. Jansen s next appearance will be the 400 th of his career. The Dodger bullpen ranks second in the NL in both A (3.39, 183 /485.1 IP) and opponents batting average (.219), while leading the league in WHIP (1.14). FAR, GOOD: The Dodgers have had 27 players on the DL this year, which ties the 2012 Boston Red Sox for the most by a team since 1987 (Source: Stats, LLC). Brandon McCarthy (right hip stiffness) is scheduled to make his first rehab start tonight for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. He last pitched on Aug. 13 and has gone 2-2 with a 3.63 A in eight starts for the Dodgers this year. Andre Ethier (fractured right tibia) has gone 9-for-28 (.321) with four doubles and three RBI in eight rehab games with Rancho Cucamonga. Scott Kazmir (neck inflammation) is expected to make a rehab start on Wednesday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
