3 GENERAL INFORMATION How to Register McFarland Recreation, Activities, & Play (MRAP) offers a wide variety of safe and affordable summer sport and recreation programs for children in the McFarland area. To register for any of our programs, please visit Reminder: Please register your participant for the grade level that he/she is currently enrolled in for the school year. For example, if your child is currently a 2 nd grader, you will register for programs offered for 2 nd graders. Once you are finished registering for your activities, you will be required to complete payment using a credit/debit card. If you do not pay online at that time, you will not be registered for your activities. All credit card transactions (whether online or in-person) will include a $1.95 credit card processing fee. If you would prefer to use cash or check, you must register in-person at McFarland High School please contact MRAP at to schedule at time to register in-person (office hours vary). In-person registration/payment options include cash, check, or credit card. Participants will NOT be allowed to participate in an activity until payment and the online waiver have been completed. Fee Assistance It is the belief of MRAP that no child in the McFarland School District shall be denied participation in any program for lack of ability to pay. If your family participates in the Free/Reduced Lunch Program, or if you would like to request financial assistance, please contact Alisha Fix at We can help, but it is your responsibility to make the request. Please contact us if you are in a position where you need financial assistance in paying for a program or activity. Refund Policy Refunds will be issued on a case-by-case basis and will need approval from the activity s coordinator/coach. Please contact Alisha Fix at for assistance with any refund requests. *PLEASE NOTE: MRAP reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes if the class minimum (when applicable) is not met. If classes are canceled due to low enrollment, refunds for the activity fee will be issued. Credit card fees will not be refunded for any reason. 4 BASEBALL ACTIVITIES Pitch, Hit, & Run Competition The Pitch, Hit, and Run Competition is sponsored by Major League Baseball. This is a national skills program which provides participants, ages 7-14, the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities. The Pitch, Hit, and Run is intended to encourage youth participation and emphasize the FUN element of baseball. Since there is no registration fee for this program, everyone will have a chance to compete. Participants will compete in three important aspects of baseball: pitching, hitting & running. The competition is broken into four different age groups, 7-8, 9-10, and Age is determined as of July 17, 2019.Participants can register online at Grades: Competition level is determined by age 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and Age determined as of July 17, 2019 Dates: Saturday, April 13 th, 2019 Time: 9:00AM Location: McFarland High School A & B Gyms Fee: FREE Registration Deadline: April 7 th, 2019 Equipment Required by Participant: Baseball bat, batting helmet, glove, and appropriate athletic clothing 4K-2 ND GRADE BASEBALL ACTIVITIES Participants currently in preschool through 2 nd grade have the following options to choose from for baseball activities. Adult volunteers are needed to coach these activities. Please indicate your willingness to coach while registering. Please register for Tee Ball and Coach Pitch options no later than April 30 th, Tee Ball (Preschool & Kindergarten) (Preschool participants must have been four years old by Kindergarten Participants must have been five years old by ) T-Ball is a skill development program for boys and girls. Participants will learn the FUNdamentals of recreational baseball including throwing, catching, fielding, and teamwork. Games will be scheduled on Thursdays. Practice times/days will depend on coach availability. Boys and Girls will be separated into separate leagues if numbers dictate so. All participants will receive a t-shirt if registered by the deadline listed below. All participants are required to provide their own batting helmet due to lice concerns. This is a recreational league with a continuous batting order. Games will be played on Tuesday evenings. Practice days/times will depend on coach availability. All participants are required to provide their own batting helmet due to lice concerns. Participants will focus on skill development. Head Baseball Coach, John Feldner, will be returning to coach this camp. In addition, High School Baseball players will assist in coaching at this grade level. This is a machine pitch league. In this option, participants will take part in both the 3-Week Morning Baseball Camp, Monday-Thursday, June 10 th -27 th, 11:25AM-12:30PM, as well as the evening league. Additional team practices will be scheduled 1-2 times per week and will depend on coach availability. Evening games will be played on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays, 5:30PM, 6:00PM and/or 7:00PM. All participants will receive a rec department issued t-shirt. All participants are required to provide their own batting helmet due to lice concerns. We are in need of several volunteer coaches; please indicate your willingness to volunteer coach while registering. Please register for all 7 th -8 th grade baseball no later than March 17 th, th Grade Baseball League MRAP s 7 th Grade Baseball program is designed to expand upon the basics learned in earlier levels and will play at longer distances than the 5 th /6 th grade level. Games will be played against surrounding communities such as Cottage Grove, DeForest, Jefferson, Stoughton, Monroe, Brodhead, Oregon, Cambridge, etc... Team practices will be scheduled 1-3 times per week and will depend on coach availability. At least two games a week are guaranteed per team. All participants are required to provide their own batting helmet due to lice concerns. We are in need of several volunteer coaches; please indicate your willingness to volunteer coach while registering. 7 th graders registering for this program are automatically registered for the Advanced Baseball Skills Camp (fee included, see description on page 9). 9 Teener 2 Baseball League (8 th Grade) MRAP s Teener 2 Baseball program is a competitive league designed for participants currently in 8 th grade. Games are played against surrounding communities such as Stoughton, Sun Prairie, Monona, Waunakee, Cottage Grove, Monroe, Oregon Usually, a minimum of at least two games per week are played, with additional tournaments throughout the season. Part of the Teener 2 program will include an 8 th grade tournament team, which will consist of players from the Teener 2 program. The plan is to have players on the tournament team participate in at least two of the four scheduled tournaments this summer. Players on the tournament team will incur additional costs to play in the tournaments. All participants are required to provide their own batting helmet due to lice concerns. We are in need of several volunteer coaches; please indicate your willingness to volunteer coach while registering. 8 th graders registering for this program are automatically registered for the Advanced Baseball Skills Camp (fee included, see description below). Grades: 8 th Grade ( school year) Dates: Games: End of May-July 31 st, 2019 / Practices: Starting early April times per week based on coach availability Time: Games: 6:00PM unless otherwise noted / Practices: Based on coach availability Fee: $ Additional fees may apply for tournaments. Registration Deadline: March 17 th, 2019 participants will receive a rec department issued jersey and baseball cap included with the activity cost 7 th & 8 th Grade Advanced Baseball Skills Camp Participants in the Advanced Baseball Skills Camp will be taught progressive baseball skills and fundamentals in a small group setting. Instruction will focus on hitting, throwing mechanics, fielding (both infield and outfield), pitching/catching fundamentals, and base running. Small group games will also be added to further enhance the learning experience, but with an emphasis on fun and participation! Instruction will be tailored to the needs of the participants. This camp is designed for those who have had several years of competitive playing experience. 7 th and 8 th graders registering for either 7 th Grade Baseball or Teener 2 Baseball will be automatically registered for the Advanced Baseball Skills Camp at no additional cost. This is a requirement for those individuals enrolled in 7 th or 8 th grade baseball failure to attend this camp may impact playing time during games. 12 HIGH SCHOOL (9 th -11 th ) GRADE BASEBALL ACTIVITIES Participants currently in 9 th -11 th grade have the following options to choose from for baseball activities. Adult volunteers are needed to coach Teener 1 Baseball. Please indicate your willingness to coach while registering. Please register for all high school baseball no later than March 17 th, Teener 1 Baseball League (9 th Grade) MRAP s Teener 1 Baseball program is a competitive league designed for participants currently in 9 th grade. Games are played against surrounding local high schools. Games will be scheduled the second week in June through the end of July, with additional tournaments throughout the season. All participants are required to provide their own batting helmet due to lice concerns. 13 SOFTBALL ACTIVITIES 3 rd -6 th GRADE SOFTBALL ACTIVITIES MRAP is proud to partner with McFarland Youth Softball to present our softball camp series! Participants currently in 3 rd -6 th grades have the following options to choose from for softball activities. Please register for all softball camps no later than May 31 st, rd /4 th Grade Softball Camp During the 3 rd /4 th grade softball camp, participants will attend practices for four days, Monday Thursday morning, June 10 th -13 th, 8:30-10:00AM at the Waubesa Intermediate School Softball fields. The focus of this camp is to introduce the game of softball to those that are new to the game and to focus on skill development for those that are returning to the game. Participants will learn about the rules of softball and participate in various fielding, hitting, and pitching drills. All skill levels are welcome!
