LOYOLA RAMBLERS (4-5) vs. SAINT JOSEPH S HAWKS (2-3) COASTAL CAROLINA CHANTICLEERS (7-6) MOUNT ST. MARY S (0-5) LIVE STATS: loyolaramblers.com After a two-week break, the Loyola University Chicago softball team returns to action this weekend when they travel to the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Feb. 27-March 1. Hosted by Coastal Carolina, the tournament will feature 11 games over a three-day span. The Ramblers are set to play four games in Myrtle Beach, taking on Saint Joseph s and Coastal Carolina twice, along with one game against Mount Saint Mary s RAMBLINGS Loyola is coming off of a two-week break, as the Tiger Softball Classic set for last weekend was cancelled due to inclement weather. The Ramblers last played on Feb at the Hillenbrand Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., where they compiled a 2-3 record over the three-day tournament. Loyola topped Loyola Marymount and Wright State, but dropped games to No. 14 Arizona, Drake and San Jose State. Loyola opened the 2015 season two weekends ago at the Total Control Sports Invitational in Rosemont, Ill. The Ramblers finished the weekend with a 2-2 record, defeating Butler and North Dakota before falling to Samford and Miami (OH). Hannah Jenkins was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week by College Sports Madness following her stellar performance in Loyola s season-opening tournament. The junior hit.667 over four games with one home run and two doubles, scoring three runs and knocking in four RBI. HEAD COACH JEFF TYLKA Jeff Tylka enters his first season as head coach of the Loyola University Chicago softball team after serving as an assistant coach for three years. Tylka has enjoyed tangible success in his three seasons working, primarily, with Loyola s hitters. The Ramblers have had 11 players earn all-conference honors during his tenure, including three (Brittany Gardner, Lauren Moore and Tarran Shaffer) taking home All-Missouri Valley accolades in He presided over an offense that set a school record with 44 home runs in 2013 while, individually, Moore finished her illustrious career as Loyola s all-time leader in RBI (124) while ranking third with 29 career round-trippers. All times are Central and subject to change Collectively, Loyola has advanced to the championship game of its conference tournament in each of the last two seasons and has averaged over 26 wins per season with Tylka in the dugout. Host Coastal Carolina enters the tournament with a 7-6 record after hosting three tournaments to begin the season. The Chanticleers went 2-2 at the Chanticleer Showdown last weekend, defeating Sacred Heart and Bucknell in five innings before falling to Boston College and Murray State. Loyola last met Coastal Carolina at the Kickin Chicken Classic in 2013, with the Chanticleers defeating the Ramblers twice to improve to 4-1 in the all-time series. Mount Saint Mary s opened the season at the Georgia Tech-Georgia State Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.
