The Sox are 3-2 on the homestand, recording a 5-0 victory last night vs. Texas after splitting a four-game series with the Angels they went 4-2 on their last trip to Minnesota (3-0) and Tampa Bay (1-2). Following this three-game series, the White Sox take a sevengame trip to Toronto (4/25-27) and Baltimore (4/28-5/1). The Sox have just one off day in April (4/12) they play 17 of their first 27 games on the road and 33 of their first 42 outside the AL Central division. TODAY'S STORYLINES The White Sox are off to their best start since the 2006 team was 12-5 on its way to a 13-5 record. The Sox have led the division or been within 1.0 game of first place every day this season. White Sox starting pitchers own a 0.68 ERA (2 ER/26.1 IP) over the last four games, allowing 13 hits. Chicago's bullpen leads the major leagues with a 1.55 ERA and has been scoreless in 11 of its 16 games. Carlos Rodon is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA (3 ER/12.0 IP) and 15 strikeouts in two career starts against Texas. LAST NIGHT'S RECAP Jose Quintana combined with Matt Albers and Zach Putnam on a five-hitter as the White Sox recorded their fourth shutout victory of the season, 5-0, over Texas. Quintana allowed four hits over 7.0 IP to improve to 2-1 with a 1.82 ERA (5 ER/24.2 IP) this season and 4-1 with a 1.63 ERA (11 ER/60.2 IP) over his last nine starts dating back to 9/5/15. Matt Albers threw 1.0 IP to extend his scoreless streak to 31.0 consecutive IP over his last 28 outings dating back to 8/5/15, tied with Wilson Alvarez (1993) for eighth-longest in White Sox history. Melky Cabrera went 2-4 with a double and two runs scored, Brett Lawrie hit a two-run double, and Adam Eaton was 2-4 with a double and run scored. SEEING TRIPLE The White Sox last night turned their first triple play since 9/18/06 vs. Detroit when they recorded a sequence in the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, Jose Quintana induced Mitch Moreland to line out to right fielder Adam Eaton, who relayed to first baseman Jose Abreu to double up Ian Desmond. Abreu then fired home to catch Prince Fielder in a rundown, completing the first triple play in major-league history. FIRING BLANKS The White Sox lead the American League with four shutouts, marking the first time since 1947 they have held the opposition scoreless four times within the first 17 games (STATS). The Sox did not record their fourth shutout last season until 7/9 vs. Toronto in the team's 83rd game. PITCHING PROWESS The White Sox lead the American League in ERA (2.34), quality starts (13), bullpen ERA (1.55), opponents average (.204) and WHIP (1.01). Chicago's 2.34 ERA through 17 games is its lowest since 1966 (2.13) the Sox have held the opposition to one or no runs in eight of their 17 games. BULLPEN RELIEF The White Sox bullpen owns a major-league best 1.55 ERA, compared to 2.84 at the same point last season. The Sox lead the American League lead with 13 quality starts this season after topping the league with 98 in 2015, their highest total since 2003 (also 98). Jose Quintana (2nd, 28) and Chris Sale (T3rd, 27) rank among the AL leaders in quality starts since WHITE SOX VS. TEXAS The White Sox lead the season series, 1-0. The Sox and Rangers split six games in 2015, with each winning two of three at home. Chicago batted.240 (52-217) with a 3.99 ERA (25 ER/56.1 IP) and were outscored by the Rangers, 25-19, last season. The White Sox lead the all-time series, they are at home (66-45 at U.S. Cellular Field) and on the road (43-56 at Globe Life Park). HOW THE WEST WAS WON The White Sox have gone (.643) vs. the American League West since 2015, the second-best winning percentage in the major leagues behind San Francisco (.650). Sox pitchers have recorded a 3.11 ERA (134 ER/388.1 IP) and have made 33 quality starts in 42 games. ALBERS ON A ROLL Matt Albers has thrown 31.0 consecutive scoreless IP over his last 28 appearances dating back to 8/5/15, tied with Wilson Alvarez (1993) for the eighth-longest streak in White Sox history and also the longest active in the major leagues. Albers is 1-0 with 11 holds, 24 hits allowed, six walks and 23 strikeouts during his career-best streak, which is the longest by a Sox pitcher since Alvarez 25 years ago. VIEW FROM THE TOP The White Sox have spent 12 days in first place this season, one more than their combined total of 11 from The Sox spent zero days in first in 2015, four in 2014 and seven in 2013, including off days in 2012, they led for 117 days. NO REST FOR THE WEARY The White Sox are in the midst of a stretch from 4/13-5/1 where they play 19 straight games without a day off (6-4 record). Chicago has one scheduled off day in April, tied with Arizona for the fewest in the major leagues by comparison, the Mets (six) and Kansas City (five) have the most off days in April. STREAKING SALE Chris Sale allowed an unearned run in the eighth inning on Wednesday vs. the Angels, ending his streak of 16.0 consecutive scoreless IP. Sale, who has thrown 21.0 IP since his last walk, has recorded five career scoreless streaks of 15.0 IP or more: 28.0 from 5/6-6/2/13, 22.2 from 5/23-6/8/15, 16.0 from 4/15-20/16, 15.0 from 9/5-17/14 and 15.0 from 6/3-9/12 (STATS). THE CELL AT 25 The White Sox are celebrating the 25th anniversary of U.S. Cellular Field in 2016 among the historic events at U.S. Cellular Field, the Sox hosted the 74th All-Star Game on 7/15/03 and won Games 1 and 2 of the 2005 World Series vs. Houston. Mark Buehrle threw a no-hitter on 4/18/07 vs. Texas and a perfect game on 7/23/09 vs. Tampa Bay, Jim Thome hit his 500th career home run on 9/16/07 vs. the Angels and a solo home run in a one-game playoff vs. Minnesota on 9/30/08 which proved to be the difference in a 1-0 Sox victory. HONORING EDDIE The White Sox will honor sports broadcasting legend and long-time club executive Eddie Einhorn by wearing an Eddie patch on their uniform sleeve during the 2016 regular season. Einhorn, who passed away on 2/23 from complications involving a stroke at age 80, was the team s president and chief operating officer from AT THE HELM Robin Ventura is in his fifth season as White Sox manager owns a (.463) record Ventura has managed 665 games with the Sox, 10th-most in franchise history he was a finalist for American League Manager of the Year in MILESTONES WITHIN REACH Melky Cabrera: 47 hits for 1, doubles for 300.
