DOZIER HEADING TO WILMINGTON--Kansas City infielder/outfielder Hunter Dozier will start an injury rehabilitation assignment tonight with Wilmington (A) in the Carolina League...he has been on the 60-day Major League disabled list since April 2 with a left oblique strain that occurred during spring training. THE LAND OF HOZ--Eric Hosmer continued his solid start to this extended road trip with a double last night, giving him a.471 (8-for-17) start to this journey... his season average is now up to.308, which is a 123-point rise since April 22, when the three-time Rawlings Gold Glove first baseman was hitting in those 27 games he has batted.385 (40-for-104) with an on-base pct. of.440 and slugging pct. of.548, recording 12 games with two hits or more...since the calendar flipped to the month of May, Hoz leads the Majors with a.400 batting average and 32 hits, while his.462 OBP ranks sixth. PEREZ LOOKING TO BREAK TIE WITH MAC--Four-time All-Star and four-time Rawlings Gold Glove catcher, Salvador Perez, enjoyed yet another visit to Target Field over the weekend, clubbing three home runs in Sunday s doubleheader and in the process tied Mike Macfarlane as KC s most prolific home run hitting catcher...salvy upped his career homer total 98, with 93 of those coming while he was in the lineup as a catcher to match Mac s total in games he was behind the plate from and Sal had a pair of hits here last night and has batted.412 (7-for-17) through the first four games of this road trip with three homers and five RBI. BONI HOMERS IN THE BRONX--Jorge Bonifacio will have something to brag about to his older brother Emilio when they re sitting around talking about their careers some day, as the 23-year old Boni clubbed a home run in his first career at bat in Yankee Stadium, staking KC to an early lead last night...the elder Bonifacio, a former Royal and veteran of 12 Major League seasons, has yet to homer in his 20 career AB s in the Bronx...as for the up and coming Bonifacio, Jorge joins Mike Moustakas as current Royals to homer in their first at bat here...boni has now hit safely in six straight games at a.348 clip (8-for-23) with three homers and five RBI. ACE 30 REMEMBERING YO--The morning of January 22, 2017 will always be remembered as one of the most tragic days in franchise history when word was received that pitcher Yordano Ventura had his life cut short due to a car accident in his native Dominican Republic...signed as a 17-year old in 2008, the fireballing right-hander compiled a during his abbreviated Major League career...among many highlights, Ace will be most remembered for blanking the San Francisco Giants over 7.0 innings in Game #6 of the 2014 World Series to force a seventh and deciding game, while pitching with a heavy heart himself due to the untimely passing of his friend Oscar Tavares...to honor the late Ventura, all uniforms in 2017 will be adorned with the ACE 30 patch. SEVEN SCORELESS VS YANKS--Danny snapped a five-start winless streak last Thursday at home with a 5-1 win over these Yankees...he worked 7.0 scoreless innings allowing three hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts, his fourth career double-digit strikeout game Duff retired the first nine batters before Jacoby Ellsbury s bunt single to leadoff the fourth inning, and allowed the first two batters to reach in the fifth, before inducing a double play and an inning-ending strikeout...he s worked at least 7.0 innings in five of his nine starts (including his last two), after going 7.0 innings just seven times in 26 starts last season Thursday was his second career start of at least 7.0 scoreless innings and 10 strikeouts (also, August 1, 2016 at Tampa Bay when he fanned a club record 16) the only other left-handed pitcher in Royals history to record one such start was Paul Splittorff on September 16, 1973 at California (9.0 IP, 10 SO). UP AND DOWN SUPPORT--The Royals scored five runs in support of Duffy on Thursday, more than the four runs they scored with him on the mound in his previous four starts combined the offense has supported him with one-or-fewer run in four of his nine starts, including being shutout three times the Royals are just 4-5 in Duffy s nine starts, despite his 2.97 ERA (19 ER in 57.2 IP).
