1 Mississippi Braves (25-18, 58-53) at Biloxi Shuckers (20-22, 63-47) RHP John Gant (2-0, 0.77) vs RHP Tyler Wagner (9-5, 2.33) Overall (58-53) 1st Half (33-35) 2nd Half (25-18) Game #112 August 10, 2015 Biloxi, MS MGM Park TODAY S GAME: The M-Braves go for the series win on Monday night in the fourth of five games at the Biloxi Shuckers. Right-hander John Gant takes the hill for the Braves at MGM Park opposite Shuckers right-hander Tyler Wagner. LAST TIME OUT: Mississippi blew a 6-2 lead after seven and Orlando Arcia walked off with a double in the tenth for a 7-6 Biloxi Shuckers win over the M-Braves. Biloxi scored three in the ninth against Jorge Reyes and Tyler Jones to force the extra frame. With the loss, the Braves missed a chance at sole possession of first place, as a win would have put them a 1/2-game ahead of Mobile, and a full-game ahead of Pensacola. Stephen Janas allowed just two runs on five hits over five innings in the loss. The M-Braves held on in Saturday s suspended ballgame for a 2-1 win in the afternoon, with Kyle Kinman getting out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth to preserve the W for Zack Bird. KEVIN HOME AH-RUNS: Kevin Ahrens homered again in Sunday s second game, a solo shot, taking his team-leading season total to seven. It was his third home run in four contests after clubbing four in his first 95 games. Three of his seven home runs this season have come at Biloxi s MGM Park. LANDONI LEADING THE WAY: Emerson Landoni has been a Mississippi Brave since 2012, but he had never hit leadoff in his double-a career until Tuesday 8/4. Since Landoni took over the top spot, the M-Braves are 5-1, winning five in a row before dropping Sunday s doubleheader nightcap in Biloxi to end the perfect streak. WINNING THE CLOSE ONES: The Mississippi Braves have played 44 one-run games in 2015, going in those contests. The five-games against Montgomery in the series ended Thursday were decided by a combined eight runs, including three one-run games. 21 of the Braves 43 total second half games have been decided by just one run, going 12-9 in those contests. Seven of the team s last eight, and 12 of the last 15 have been decided by three runs or less, with the team going 9-6 over the span. BLASTING OFF IN BILOXI: The M-Braves have six (and Kevin Ahrens has three) home runs in just six games at Biloxi s MGM Park this season. Both of Rio Ruiz s home runs have come on the coast, and Matt Lipka s only double-a home run came back on 7/1 at MGM Park. The six home runs account for 23% of the M-Braves 26 total homers, while the six games represent just 5% of the team s total games. WILL THE STREAK EVER END-ONI?: Emerson Landoni hit safely in both ends of Sunday s doubleheader, extending his season-high hit streak to 12 games, three shy of the team s best in 2015 set by Matt Lipka and KD Kang. It is the third-longest active streak in the Southern League, trailing Tennessee s Jeimer Candelario (14) and Willson Contreras (13). He s batting.346 (18-52) over the streak with four doubles and nine RBI. SECOND HALF TEAM: The M-Braves have consistently been a second-half team through their 11-year history, posting a (.478 win percentage) mark in the first half, compared to a (.502 win percentage) in the second half. The Braves have finished with a better second-half record than first-half record for seven consecutive seasons, dating back to Upcoming Promotions at Trustmark Park Aug 18 $2 Tuesday Ladies Night Aug 19 Winning Kids Wednesday Aug 20 New Orleans Saints Night Thirsty Thursday Aug M-Braves Baseball Card Team Set Giveaway AKA s Fundraiser Night Flat Screen Friday Friday Night Fireworks Game Trailer On the Airways 2015 features the Mississippi Braves on the FM dial for the seventh season with WYAB FM.
