RAY MATTER The Rays lost to the Royals last night, 6-2, setting up tonight s rubber match the Rays are seeking to win a third consecutive series on the heels of losing five straight series the Rays have won 6 of their last 9 games, after losing their prev. 4 straight games, 8 of 9 and 12 of 15 yesterday the Rays dropped to 3.5 GB in the race for the second AL Wild Card A.L. WILD CARD STANDINGS New York Minnesota Los Angeles Baltimore Seattle Texas Kansas City Tampa Bay position, dropping behind Texas and Kansas City while losing ground on Minnesota, Los Angeles and Baltimore they are one of seven teams separated by only 3.5 games vying for the second Wild Card spot. Since July 8, 35 of their last 46 games have been decided by 3 runs or fewer, including 19 one-run games (8-11). The Rays have committed only 2 errors in the last 13 games according to FanGraphs, the Rays lead the majors with 47 Defensive Runs Saved, followed by the Dodgers (46) and Red Sox (36).
