Following this four game series vs. the Rays, the Sox will conclude the 2016 season with three games vs. Minnesota. Chicago needs to go 7-0 on the homestand to finish the club has been officially eliminated from playoff contention. LAST NIGHT'S RECAP Carlos Rodon threw 8.0 scoreless IP, and the White Sox scored twice with two outs in their series-clinching, 3-0 win. Carlos Sanchez snapped a scoreless tie in the fifth inning with a RBI single and added a sacrifice fly in the seventh Omar Narvaez extended the lead with a RBI single in the ninth. Rodon surrendered just two hits and struck out a career-high tying 11 his 8.0 IP also matched a career high Rodon retired 12 of the first 14 hitters and held the Indians hitless until the fifth. David Robertson worked a perfect ninth for his 36th save. Todd Frazier extended his season-long hitting streak to nine games and stole two bases his 14 steals this season are the most by a Sox third baseman since Luis Salazar in 1985 (14). FAMILIAR FACE James Shields began his MLB career with Tampa Bay ( ), going with a 3.89 ERA (629 ER/1,454.2 IP) over 218 regular-season appearances (217 starts). MINOR LEAGUE HARDWARE Class AA Birmingham 2B Joe DeMichele has won a 2016 Rawlings Gold Glove Award, his second consecutive honor. DeMichele, the only repeat winner in Minor League Baseball, registered a.990 fielding percentage in 122 games at second base this season he committed just six errors in 579 total chances. DeMichele was selected by Chicago in the third round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Arizona State he is the first repeat winner since Detroit's Jordan Lennerton (1B) in FINISHING STRONG Jose Abreu needs five home runs and three RBI to join Albert Pujols as the only players in MLB history to record 30-plus homers and 100-plus RBI in each of their first three seasons. He is the first White Sox to hit 25-plus home runs in each of his first three major-league seasons. Abreu has reached base safely in 45 of his last 50 games since 8/2 (was hitting.269), hitting safely in 40 contests (23 multihit). POCKET ACES Chris Sale ranks sixth (3.19) and Jose Quintana is tied for seventh (3.21) in the American League ERA race this season.
