2 The first intercollegiate varsity competition at Illinois College took place in 1878 a baseball game against Shurtleff College. Over the next 137 years, the athletic program has grown to include 20 varsity sports for both men and women. AN ATHLETIC PROGRAM WITH A PROUD HISTORY ILLINOIS COLLEGE BASEBALL TEAM

3 CONTINUING A PROUD TRADITION Illinois College is fortunate to have outstanding athletic facilities. The Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center, England Stadium, Green Athletic Field, Ware Family Track, Coultas Natatorium and Bellatti Tennis Complex are among the best facilities in the Midwest Conference, giving IC a tremendous recruiting advantage. We believe our baseball and softball programs should also have facilities that make Illinois College competitive with other Division III programs. Student-athletes have a lot of choices on where to continue their careers, and with Joe Brooks Field and Jessica Kamp Field we will immediately be positioned to bring in those high-caliber athletes. 4 JOE BROOKS BASEBALL FIELD Joe Brooks Baseball Field is located along Lincoln Avenue on the south edge of the campus. The field is named for the late Joe Brooks, beloved head coach from 1947 to Upgrades to the baseball field include resurfacing the outfield and warning track, and laying synthetic turf throughout the infield. New dugouts will have bench seating for the team and more than 30 cubbies for the players to store their gloves, batting helmets and bats. A new addition to the complex directly behind home plate will be a press box with restrooms on the ground level and additional space for storage and a concession stand. Two sets of bleachers will be stationed on either side of the press box to provide ample seating for spectators. The synthetic turf field will not only provide a quality facility for the Blueboys to play on during the rainy season of March and April, it also will provide a place for high school teams to play when their fields are too wet.

6 JESSICA KAMP SOFTBALL FIELD Jessica Kamp Softball field is located at the corner of Gladstone and Smithland streets on the southeast edge of campus. The field is named in memory of Jessica Kamp, Class of 2002, who died in a car accident while a student at the College. Jessica was a standout pitcher for the Lady Blues. The softball field will remain natural with a grass outfield and a resurfaced skinned earth infield. A press box will be the anchor of the facility behind home plate. The row of stadium seats will have a new location in front of the press box, and bleacher seating will flank each side of the press box. Restrooms, storage and an area for a concession stand will be on the ground level. Additional improvements include windscreens on the outfield fence, foul poles, padded backstop with netting, batting cage, bullpen with a clay surface and a new scoreboard.
