Most Recent Game: Game 1: The El Paso Chihuahuas scored four late runs in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader but lost to the Albuquerque Isotopes 5-4 at Southwest University Park. Albuquerque's two-run lead swelled to five in the top of the sixth when Griff Erickson and Johnny Monell hit back-to-back home runs, both to center field. The Chihuahuas sent ten batters to the plate in a four-run sixth, with Jonathan Galvez's two-run home run and Rico Noel's bases-loaded single highlighting the rally. The Chihuahuas went down in the seventh inning of the seven-inning game, dropping their second straight to Albuquerque. Starter Michael Nix threw four hitless, shutout innings to begin the game, but was handed the loss after allowing two runs in the fifth. Game 2: The El Paso Chihuahuas matched a team high for runs in an inning in their 9-5 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes in Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader. El Paso scored seven times in the bottom of the fifth inning on RBI hits from Jeff Francoeur, Chris Nelson and Alex Castellanos, as well as a long three-run home run by Cody Decker that cleared the street behind Southwest University Park's left field walkway. Francoeur had five hits in the doubleheader. Albuquerque starting pitcher Carlos Frias was ejected in the fourth inning for appearing to have a foreign substance on his forearm. Dog Bites: The Chihuahuas have split all three double headers they have played in this year. Jonathan Galvez was named a PCL All-Star Wednesday. Tyler Greene s hitting streak ended at 13 games Wednesday. Six of the PCL s 36 grand slams have come from Chihuahuas hitters. The Chihuahuas have used a position player to pitch eight times and a pitcher to play outfield three times this season. Southwest University Park sold out 27 of 37 home games so far. The Chihuahuas traveled from Peoria, AZ to Reno to Tacoma to Tucson to Albuquerque to Las Vegas then to Sacramento before their first home game on April 28 th. Four League Records Already: The Chihuahuas and Sacramento combined to hit three grand slams on May 5 th, tying the PCL record, which had only occurred twice before. The Chihuahuas tied the PCL record for most pitchers used in one game on April 22 nd, using nine at Las Vegas, which had been done only twice before. The Chihuahuas and Albuquerque set the PCL record for most combined strikeouts in a nine-inning game with 32 on May 11 th On May 15 th Jace Peterson tied the PCL record for walks in a game (5). Has spent previous time in the PCL with Nashville ( ) and Tacoma (2011). Was signed by the Padres on June 28, 2014 out of independent Sugar Land, where he had a 6-0 record and a 2.15 ERA in 12 games. Is the third pitcher to be signed by San Diego off the Sugar Land roster in the last two seasons (Jason Lane, Michael Nix). Has spent parts of three seasons in the Major Leagues (2008 with Boston), ( with Milwaukee). Appeared in 50 Major League games, posting a 1-0 record and a 5.19 ERA.
